Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth, Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser, City of Kenosha Mayor John Antaramian, and Major General Paul Knapp held a news conference on Monday to update the public on the Jacob Blake case and police brutality protests across the city.Sheriff Beth said that close to 200 people were arrested last week.He added that half those that were arrested were "people from outside the community."The Kenosha Police Department, who was not at the press conference, released a press release on Sunday on Twitter detailing the arrests.In the statement, the department said 175 people were arrested. 102 of those arrests were people with "listed addresses from outside Kenosha. 702

KANSAS CITY, Kansas — An indictment unsealed Friday by a Wyandotte Grand Jury outlines the lead-up to the 2016 death of 10-year-old Caleb Schwab.Earlier Friday, the Grand Jury indicted the Schlitterbahn corporation and the director of the park at the time of the incident, Tyler Miles, on several criminal counts, including involuntary manslaughter.The indictment itself cites whistleblowers inside Schlitterbahn who told grand jurors the company had covered up similar incidents in the past.Further, the Grand Jury indictment says amusement ride design and safety experts inspected the ride and found evidence other rafts had previously gone airborne off the slide. Additionally, the experts said the ride’s design “violated nearly all aspects of the longstanding industry safety standards…” “In fact, the design and operation of the Verruckt complied with few, if any, of the industry safety standards.”It was these bits of information that prompted investigators to launch an investigation.The Grand Jury indictment concludes Caleb Schwab’s death “and the rapidly growing list of injuries were forseeable and expected outcomes.”Finally, grand jurors write that those responsible for the ride’s operation knew they were guilty of criminal misconduct because they attempted to conceal evidence from law enforcement.“These obstructions substantially delayed the investigation.”In response to the details of the indictment, a company spokeswoman said the company plans to contest the allegations: 1513

JBS Tolleson, Inc. is recalling more than 5.1 million pounds of raw beef products that may be tainted with salmonella, the United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Tuesday.The recalled beef was produced and packaged between July 26 and September 7 according to FSIS. The products have been distributed nationwide and include the brands Kroger, Cedar River Farms, Grass Run Farms and JBS generic among others.This is an expansion of a recall that was first issued in October for the same reason.The total amount of "non-intact raw beef products" that have been recalled now exceeds more than 12 million pounds.The recalled beef is linked to an outbreak of salmonella that, as of November 15, has caused 246 people to become sick in 25 states, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. No deaths have been reported but 56 people have been hospitalized."FSIS is continuing to investigate illnesses associated with this widespread outbreak, and additional product from other companies may also be recalled," the recall notice said.Consumers should discard or return any recalled beef. FSIS said its concerned that consumers may unknowingly have recalled beef in their freezer. In addition, "only consume ground beef that has been cooked to a temperature of 160°F. Other cuts of beef should be cooked to a temperature of 145°F and allowed to rest for at least 3 minutes," USDA said.Symptoms of salmonella usually begin within 12 to 72 hours of consuming contaminated food. (KGTV) — A La Jolla woman may have new evidence that the iconic sea wall at the Children's Pool is increasingly crumbling.Architectural historian Diane Kane spent time in 2017 and 2018 taking photos of different parts of the sea wall in an effort to earn it a historical designation. She recently went back to take more and found that the wall's walking path is increasingly disintegrated, and its railings even more rusted over. RELATED: Coastal Commission approves permit to protect seals during pupping season"I don't know if we had a particularly strong winter last year or if this is just at a point where it's had deferred maintenance for so long that it's really starting to go quickly," Kane said.Ellen Browning Scripps donated the wall in 1931, creating what's now known as the Children's Pool. Kane, a trustee of the La Jolla Community Planning Association, says a historic designation could help generate funds to preserve the sea wall. She spent two years writing a historic report, which she submitted to the National Register of Historic Places.
