BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed in a phone conversation Tuesday to join hands to uphold multilateralism and tackle global challenges.
The two sides exchanged views on the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road, promoting regional development and cooperation, and upholding multilateralism and free trade, and made plans for the direction and focus of their cooperation in the future.
Amid the growing downturn risk of the world economy and the rising unilateralism and protectionism, the world is facing instability and uncertainty, the Chinese state councilor said, adding "we need to act positively."
The Thai government welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest in Thailand's EEC, and will strongly support Thai-Chinese cooperation in technological innovation, e-commerce and other areas while learning from China's experience in poverty-elimination, environmental protection and smog control, said the prime minister.
"We also hope to strengthen cooperation with the Jamaican side in addressing climate change and continue to promote the implementation of the Paris Agreement," said Li.
