SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Southern California company is hoping to bring its dorm-like facility for adults to San Diego for locals looking to save cash and enjoy communal living. Los Angeles-based Haven Coliving has almost a hundred people who are sharing the same space and the same mindset."To be in a community with people who are focused on health and wellness, it's really a plus for anyone who's moving from far away,” says resident Katie Shim.RELATED: Proposed pod hotel could offer cheap stays along San Diego's waterfrontHaven Coliving houses mostly people who work in the wellness industry. There are activities like yoga and vegan cooking classes. The housing is comprised of four multi-million dollar homes that are connected to one another.“In Los Angeles, where a one bedroom in Venice would be about ,000, our membership dues are 5,” says founder and CEO Ben Katz.Katz says that about ,000 a month will get you a bed in a private pod in a shared room. Sheets and towels are provided and changed weekly. The two neighborhoods he's eyeing are Pacific Beach and Bankers Hill. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Amid coronavirus fears, retailers in San Diego County and around the world are trimming operating hours to focus on cleaning and restocking. Some stores are even closing until further notice. The shopping frenzy continues as residents prepare to hunker down for weeks at a time. Many not being able to get essentials they so desperately need. "All the toilet papers were gone, and they were limiting the number to one per client," shopper Midori Kato said. Some said they found a way to bypass the chaotic crowds. "Because I live close, like 300 feet from Ralphs, I finally figured out to go at 11:30 or midnight," one man told 10News. But not anymore. Many grocery stores announced they are shortening their operating hours. Von's supermarkets are now open from 7 am to 9 pm. Ralph's parent company, Kroger, announced nationwide, that they will only be open from 8 am to 8 pm to focus on deep cleaning and restocking shelves. Trader Joe's stores began limiting the number of shoppers in their stores. Starting Monday, they will only be open from 9 am to 7 pm. Some shoppers said, instead of rushing into stores and hoarding up supplies, we need to work together. In her first grade class, she puts extra emphasis on reading and writing, skills she believes are crucial for the children's future and development. “Knowing they are able to read is one thing but knowing that they are able to read to understand and read to learn, and to write to communicate ideas and thoughts. It’s something that is going to carry them throughout their lives,” said Ransom. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego Police officer shot an aggressive dog while responding to a domestic violence call Monday afternoon, police say.According to police, the incident happened on the 4200 block of Colina Del Sol around 3 p.m.While responding to the call, the dog reportedly attacked and bit the officer, who then shot the dog.Police say the officer received medical attention at the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego woman is among those killed in the Conception boat fire off Santa Cruz Island, her coworkers in Coronado told 10News Tuesday. A manager at Nicky Rottens restaurant at 100 Orange Ave. identified Nicole Quitasol as one of the victims of the deadly fire. Quitasol was on the dive trip with four relatives, her coworkers posted on Facebook. "Nicole has worked with our Nicky Rottens Coronado family for years, and she will be remembered as an adventurous & loving soul," wrote Bryn Butolph, who described Quitasol as smart and loving."She will be greatly missed," Butolph added. He told 10News Quitasol was devoted to her dog, Peanut Butter.The family of five was among 34 people presumed dead in the blaze. All were sleeping below deck when the fire started early Monday. Other victims included students from a Northern California charter school serving grades 7-12, and a marine biologist who owned the diving company and was leading the tour.A GoFundMe account was created to help Quitasol's mother, who lost three children.KCRA in Sacramento identified the other family members as Nicole’s sister Evan and sister Angela, both from Stockton, and their father Michael and stepmother Fenisa Sison, both from Modesto.The Associated Press contributed to this report. 1304
