An American, who left the U.S. two weeks ago to climb Machu Pichu in Peru, says he can’t return home. Husband and father, Chris McLeroy, left on March 13, and due to travel bans implemented in efforts to curb the COVID-19 outbreak, he says he can’t get back to America or even across the border to get a flight home.“We are told we are not allowed back into the U.S because the borders of Peru have been closed, and so there is no travel between the regions,” he said.Meanwhile, over 4,000 miles away, his wife and son are forced to wait.“We all have our moments of sad and worry,” said McLeroy’s wife, Jodi. “I have to hide all that because I don’t want my son to see it. I want him to feel safe.”Every day, Jodie McLeroy is working with local officials, including her U.S senator, desperately trying to get her husband home. The couple is trying not to lose hope. “It’s certainly creating an anxiety not being able to be there with my family going through this,” Chris McLeroy said.He says he needs transportation to the nearest airport, but the roads are blocked.“It’s going to take the U.S. government to make that arrangement to get them to the airport,” he said. But, the question is, when will that happen?“I have faith he will make it home,” Jodie McLeroy said. “I just don’t know when.” 1305

American hiring rebounded last month after an unusually weak job market in February, but signs still point to a gradual economic slowdown. The US economy added 196,000 jobs in March, up from 33,000 the prior month. Despite a slight upward revision from the original estimate, February hiring remained the weakest since September 2017.Meanwhile, the unemployment rate remained at 3.8%, a level near historic lows. While March hiring was robust, it brings the first-quarter average to 180,000 jobs created per month, down from 223,000 per month on average in 2018. Economists have been expecting a slowdown, and so far it looks gradual enough to support the idea that the economy may glide to a lower level of activity in 2019 735

A third horse died in three days at Santa Anita when it collided with another horse during training hours on Sunday. Tikkun Olam, a 4-year-old gelding trained by Eric Kuljac, was euthanized because of his undisclosed injuries. The other horse apparently wasn't injured. Santa Anita has had five horse deaths since Dec. 26, two days before the winter-spring meet began. Last year, 37 horses died at the Southern California racetrack. Tikkun Olam's death was the first that occurred on the main dirt surface this year. A horse died Friday and another died Saturday. 575
