Voters in Mississippi voted to approve a new state flag design.Lawmakers took action this summer to retire the former Mississippi state flag, which contained the Confederate battle emblem.The rebel symbol is widely seen as racist.In the last two months, the process to design and vote on a new flag has moved fast.There was a call to artists to help design a new flag. By law, the new flag must include the phrase, “In God We Trust,” and could not include any depictions of the Confederate battle flag.The designs were narrowed to five based on a public online vote and feedback. Then a commission narrowed it down to a final option.That option, including a magnolia, the state flower, and red, blue and yellow bands, was on the ballot for voters to approve. 766

(KGTV) - Neighbors in the 700 block of Lemon Avenue in Vista say they were stunned as they watched a landlord pull out a pistol and start shooting at his tenant.Neighbors tell 10News there have been screaming matches at the home in the past. They say the landlord had been trying to evict a tenant who was living in the garage. The neighbors did not wish to share their names out of fear for their family's safety.The watch commander said they received a 9-1-1 call around 6 p.m. when the first shot was fired. Deputies arrived and investigated, then left when they couldn't find the landlord.Around 7:50 p.m. the landlord returned and, according to the watch commander, fired several shots at the tenant.Neighbors said it sounded like fireworks. They said they saw the landlord cocking his pistol, they believed it jammed.A video provided to 10News by neighbors shows deputies with rifles drawn approaching the home.They arrested the landlord and his associate.Details on the man, the associate, the tenant and the charges are not currently known. 1070

VIENNA — Austrian authorities say at least one gunman, shooting apparently at random in a popular Vienna nightlife area hours before a coronavirus lockdown took effect, killed four people in an Islamic extremist attack. They said Tuesday that the suspect, who was shot and killed by police, was a young Austrian-North Macedonian dual citizen who had a previous terror conviction for attempting to join the Islamic State extremist group in Syria.Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said two men and two women died from their injuries in the attack Monday evening.
