(KGTV) — An asteroid whizzed by Earth this week closer than our distance from the moon and with enough force to level a city, scientists say.Asteroid 2019 OK careened past our planet Wednesday about 45,000 miles away and inside Earth's orbit with the moon, according to the International Astronomical Union. The asteroid was discovered this week by astronomy teams in Brazil and the U.S. before it made its pass by Earth. It measures an estimated 187 to 426 feet, or 57 to 130 meters, across, enough to be deemed a "city-killer" by scientists. 550
(KGTV) - Did an HOA really order a Texas family to take down the inflatable snowman in their front yard because it's too early for Christmas decorations?Yes!In addition to the snowman, the Simonis family has a reindeer and a Santa helicopter in their yard.On November 4th, the HOA sent them a letter saying they needed to remove the snowman until closer to the holiday season. Exactly when "closer" is wasn't specified.Claudia Simonis is due to give birth December 25th and wants her children to be able to celebrate Christmas early. So the family has no intention of removing their decorations. They have the full support of their neighbors who are putting up their decorations early in solidarity. 707

(KGTV) - "Flippy," the burger-flipping robot introduced recently at a Pasadena, Calif., burger restaurant, has been taken offline after one day on the job.The robot was taken off the line, in fast-food terms, at CaliBurger, BBC News reported, after it was unable to keep up with demand. Miso Robotics introduced the robot as a potential replacement to human cooks. So the burger-flipping robot has been switched off until coders can update it.RELATED: This robotic arm is designed to flip burgersInterest and news about Flippy's "hiring" created an increased demand at the restaurant, leading to more orders than it could handle.CaliBurger is reportedly working with staff to make sure the kitchen is working around Flippy as efficiently as possible as well. The restaurant hopes to eventually deploy Flippys in more of its locations.Miso Robotics says Flippy can detect when raw burger patties are placed on the grill and monitors each one. A cloud-based software from the company keeps track of the cook time and alerts workers when it's time to dress the burger patty.RELATED: San Diego-based Jack in the Box suggests more kiosks, fewer cashiers as minimum wage risesFlippy will be able to cook up to 2,000 burgers a day, the company touts. Here's a look at how the robotic arm works: 1334

(CNN) -- President Donald Trump in a statement on Saturday said late al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's son Hamza bin Laden had been "killed in a United States counterterrorism operation in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region."He did not give a time period for the operation or the death."The loss of Hamza bin Ladin not only deprives al-Qa'ida of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father, but undermines important operational activities of the group," the President said in the statement.Trump also said "Hamza bin Ladin was responsible for planning and dealing with various terrorist groups."CNN previously reported on July 31 that the US believed Hamza bin Laden was dead, citing a US official. The official told CNN at the time that the US had a role in this death but did not provide details.CNN terrorism analyst Paul Cruickshank told CNN at the time that one thing puzzled researchers who are closely tracking al Qaeda: "If Hamza bin Laden has indeed been dead for months, you would expect al Qaeda to have released some form of eulogy before today. The fact they haven't is highly unusual, given his status in the group."US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper also appeared to confirm in a Fox News interview in August that Hamza bin Laden was dead.Earlier this year the US State Department called bin Laden, who was believed to be in his early 30s, an "emerging" leader in the terror group, offering a million-dollar reward for information leading to his capture. The State Department said items seized from the elder bin Laden's hiding place in Pakistan during the US Navy SEAL raid in 2011 that resulted in his death indicated he was grooming Hamza bin Laden to replace him as al Qaeda's leader.Saudi Arabia revoked Hamza bin Laden's citizenship, official newspaper Um al-Qura reported earlier this year, citing a royal order issued to the Interior Ministry. 1896
