KEARNY MESA (CNS) - Four men were wanted for robbing a convenience store in Kearny Mesa Sunday, police said.A clerk at the Circle K on Balboa Avenue just east of Interstate 805 was working by herself around 8:45 a.m. Sunday when four men came into the store, looked around and left without making a purchase, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said. The four returned about eight minutes later, and one of them pointed a knife at the clerk's abdomen and demanded cigarettes, Heims said. The woman complied, and the men took multiple packs of cigarettes and cigars. The total amount of property stolen was not known, according to Heims. The suspects, all men in their early 20s, were described as:-- 5-feet-7-inches tall, about 160 pounds with black hair and green eyes, wearing a black hoodie with white strings and black pajama pants;-- 5-feet-3-inches tall, heavyset with black hair, wearing a black hoodie with white strings and black pajama pants;-- 5-feet-2-inches tall, about 115 pounds with black hair, also wearing a black hoodie with white strings and black pajama pants;-- and a man of unknown height, with black hair wearing a black and red leather jacket.Robbery detectives were investigating the incident. 1227

KENOSHA, Wis. — A Wisconsin high school teacher is on paid leave after students recorded her using a racial slur on camera during class. The teacher can be heard repeatedly using the “N-word” several times while students in the class laugh. The parent of the student who took the video told WTMJ the incident started when a student at Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin used the word with another student. That’s when the parent said the teacher used the slur and said that she should be able to use it because it is used within the African-American community. At Tuesday’s Kenosha Unified School District board meeting, representatives from the community’s Coalition for Dismantling Racism spoke about the incident.“Our concern is the total lack of action from the administration. This should have been addressed immediately. Especially when several students stated how uncomfortable they were in the classroom. A teacher should not make her students uncomfortable particularly when you’re talking about something as sensitive as using a racial slur,” Darrell Greene said. The parent of the student who shot the video says he turned it over to the school’s principal immediately after it was shot on November 29, but in a statement to  the district said: 1309

Kamala Harris is making history as the first Black woman elected vice president of the United States, shattering barriers that have kept men — almost all of them white — entrenched at the highest levels of American politics for more than two centuries. The 56-year-old California senator is also the first person of South Asian descent elected to the vice presidency. She represents the multiculturalism that defines America but is largely absent from Washington’s power centers. Her Black identity has allowed her to speak in personal terms in a year of reckoning over police brutality and systemic racism.During a speech Saturday night, Harris had a strong message for women and girls who were watching."While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last," Harris said, in her first speech as Vice President-elect. Harris learned about the Associated Press calling Pennsylvania and Nevada, and ultimately the presidency, for the Biden-Harris ticket, while she was out for a run. She tweeted video of her talking to Biden on the phone, holding her earbuds wearing workout gear, saying "we did it, Joe." 1128

Judge Esther Salas, a US district judge in the state of New Jersey, spoke out for the first time since her son was shot and killed two weeks ago.Salas’ son Daniel Anderl was killed on Salas’ doorstep. He would have celebrated his 20th birthday this weekend."Two weeks ago, my life as I knew it changed in an instant and my family will never be the same. A madman, who I believe was targeting me because of my position as federal judge came to my house,” Judge Salas said.It is believed that Daniel protected his father Mark Anderl from the path of the bullets. The father survived the shooting, but was wounded three times.“As federal judges, we understand that our decisions will be scrutinized and some may disagree strongly with our rulings, but what we cannot accept is when we are forced to live in fear for our lives because personal information, like our home addresses, can be easily obtained by anyone seeking to do us or our families harm,” Salas said. “Unfortunately, for my family, the threat was real and the free flow of information from the internet allowed this sick and depraved human being to find all our personal information and target us.”The suspect, 72-year-old Roy Den Hollander, died by suicide after the shooting. Hollander was also suspected in the killing of Marc Angelucci, the vice president of the National Coalition for Men. Angelucci died on July 11, eight days before Anderl's death..The New York Times reported that Hollander had a hit list that included Salas. To watch Judge Salas' statement, click here. 1549

JULIAN, Calif. (KGTV) -- The threat of wildfires in Julian may be going down. SDG&E is installing underground power lines to help mitigate the fire risk. The project is also expected to keep critical facilities open during pre-emptive power outages. Not only will the work help prevent fires, it may also help keep power running when Santa Ana winds start picking up. Crews were hard at work Tuesday putting underground power lines near State Route 78 in Julian. RELATED: City of San Diego moves forward with undergrounding more power linesThe project is part of SDG&E’s effort to reduce the risk of wildfires and shutting down power during windy weather. It will help keep the power running to places like Julian’s schools, post office, library and their Cal Fire station. Phase one of the project is being done along Cape Horn Avenue. Many homes and facilities have lost power there during shutoffs in the past. While residents in Julian were happy about the changes, they know it won’t happen overnight. RELATED: Map: City of San Diego underground utility lines“To put all those lines underground is gonna be a major undertaking,” said resident Michael Lang. Phase two of the project will add underground lines along the 78. Currently, there is no timeline on when the project will begin. 1308
