KENOSHA, Wisc. — Lucas Jundt is a junior quarterback at Kenosha Indian Trail High School, in Wisconsin who just happens to have prosthetic legs."Since my Dad showed me football, I'm like, I'm going to play that sport!" Jundt said."Yeah, everybody on the team is like 'why is he getting all the fame.' And I'm like, 'sorry for having no feet. I guess they just like that type of stuff!' And it inspires kids to, you know what? Hey, I can get off of my lazy butt and go out there and do something that I love," Jundt said.To his teammates, Jundt is just one of the guys. "They're like 'no mercy for you. We're just gonna go at you.' And I'm like, 'that's fine. I love it,'" Jundt said.Jundt's story of how he got to Kenosha Indian Trail's football field is the stuff of movies. "My parents abandoned me at five days old. I was born with a condition called fibula hemimelia. I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right, sorry doctors! But I was born with that. That's basically missing a fibula," Jundt explained.Born in Inner Mongolia, he was adopted by a Kenosha couple at age seven."They lost three kids. Two to an hour of life. And one for six years. Cancer, and yeah, it was just rough, they went through a lot of hardship and pain. But God said 'you know what? This is not the end of your story. Your story is still continuing. And I am going to let you adopt a son, and two more kids,'" Jundt said of his adoptive parents.Jundt says his faith keeps him going, and remembers a time talking to another media outlet about it. "I remember one news station didn't put it in, and I'm like 'please, put my faith in there.' Because my faith, is what got me here. Because of God. I am here," Jundt says. KANSAS CITY, Mo. — There is no rule book when it comes to COVID-19, with endless questions still surrounding the potentially deadly virus. One big question that many are now asking: If you've already had the virus, should you get the vaccine when it becomes available? "Certainly right now, it's looking like they are going to recommend people that have had COVID to go ahead and get the vaccine when it's available to them, based either on their job or on their other health conditions," said Dr. Sarah Boyd, infectious diseases physician at Saint Luke's Health System.Boyd said it is important for everyone to get the vaccine, even those who already have had COVID-19."We know the majority of people that are at about 90 days, but there are some that probably longer," Boyd said. "Over the next few months, there will be information I am sure coming out about the natural course of immunity and if at some point you are at risk to get reinfection."Amanda Finley tested positive for the coronavirus twice and wants to get the vaccine as soon as she can."For me, I haven't had adverse reactions before, but the only way to know if it is going to affect long-haulers is if we try it," Finley said. "I just don't feel right saying, 'oh, somebody goes try it for me.' I will gladly do it. I will be first in line."She runs a Facebook group for COVID long-haulers.Some of the members in the group are excited about the vaccine, while others are nervous about it. But Finley said a big reason why she will get the virus is a simple one."Because I definitely do not want to get this again," Finley said. "It affects every system in the body. It's not just a respiratory disease, that is just how we found it. It affects your cardiovascular system, it affects your brain, it affects your muscles. Kamala Harris questioned Judge Amy Coney Barrett for 30 minutes during Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Tuesday.Harris, Joe Biden’s running mate and Democratic candidate for vice president, largely used her allotted time to point toward President Donald Trump’s campaign goal of eliminating the Affordable Care Act.Democrats, like Harris, have zeroed in on their belief that Barrett would vote to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, which was passed by a Democratic Congress and signed by President Barack Obama nearly a decade ago.Just one week after the election, the Supreme Court will hear another GOP-led challenge to the law. JOSHUA TREE, Calif. (KGTV) - A San Bernardino County couple has been arrested after authorities said they kept their three children in unsanitary and unsafe conditions.Sheriff's Department deputies were conducting an area check Wednesday afternoon in the 7000 block of Sunfair Road when they located a trailer that appeared abandoned. A large rectangular box made of plywood was also located on the property.Upon inspection, deputies found there was no electricity or running water and several large holes, mounds of trash, and human feces on the property.Police said the parents, identified as Mona Kirk, 51, and Daniel Panico, 73, did not provide their three children, ages 11-, 13-, and 14-years-old, with enough food either.About 30-40 cats were also found roaming freely inside the trailer and on the property.Kirk and Panico were arrested and charged with willful cruelty to a child in lieu of 0,000 bail.The three children have been transported into the care of San Bernardino County Children and Family Services. 1061
