(KGTV) - A North County lawyer, once charged with possessing child pornography and secretly filming women at a local tanning salon, is allowed to practice law again.A woman who contacted Team 10 said several North County residents are concerned he could be back in the community working as an attorney. David Kaye faced two felonies and nine misdemeanors in early 2011. Investigators say he filmed women without their knowledge at an Escondido tanning salon. After a customer saw the recording device, police set up a sting operation and Kaye was arrested after an investigation that lasted several months.Kaye entered a plea deal and pleaded guilty to two counts of secretly filming a person and two counts of peeking through a hole or private area. He received three years of formal probation. His law license was suspended in 2014.In the last few months, he got his license back. In documents filed with the state bar court, it said Kaye petitioned five times for his suspension to be lifted. It cited a list of community service and other charitable work with no further arrests. When questioned about his license being reinstated, Kaye wrote to Team 10: “… I don’t practice at all and I am retired with no intention of practicing again.” He said he fought to get his law license reinstated because he “did not want to spend the rest of [his] life wearing the scarlet letter of being a suspended or disbarred attorney after 20 years of practice.” He added that he did everything he could to “follow the state bar requirements to resume [his] status as an attorney in good standing.” Kaye said he wants to move on with his life and spends most of his free time doing volunteer work. Team 10 reached out to the state bar for a comment, but they did not return any emails or phone calls. 1797

(KGTV) — Bombshell testimony was dropped on the third day of a Navy SEAL's trial over the fatal stabbing an injured teenage ISIS combatant in Iraq.Navy SEAL Special Operator First Class Corey Scott testified Thursday that he was responsible for the teen's death, not fellow SEAL Chief Edward Gallagher, who is accused of murdering the injured fighter after he was captured.Scott told the court that he held down the teen's breathing tube so that he couldn't breathe after seeing Gallagher stab the combatant. RELATED: Witness: Navy SEAL called dead prisoner an 'ISIS dirt bag'He added “he knew he was going to die” and didn't want the teen to suffer or be tortured, so he held his thumb over the teen's tracheal tube and suffocated him. Scott said his actions took place immediately after Gallagher stabbed the injured teen under the collar bone.During cross-examination, Scott told the court he doesn't want to see Gallagher go to jail or his family endure any further harm from the trial.Scott was deployed with the Navy Chief in 2017.RELATED: Prosecutor: Navy SEAL bragged he 'got' victim with knifeProsecutors say Scott cannot be persecuted for his testimony on the stand, but he can be prosecuted for perjury. A military spokesman told the Associated Press prosecutors will likely continue their case against Gallagher despite Scott's testimony.Scott had met with prosecutors and the defense on multiple occasions prior to his testimony, but Thursday was the first time he revealed his account of the events leading to the ISIS teen's death.Gallagher has been accused in the teen's murder on May 3, 2017, in Mosul, Iraq, and for shooting at Iraqi civilians several times. He has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, and other charges that carry a potential life in prison sentence. 1805

(KGTV) - A workplace shooting at YouTube's San Bruno headquarters has left many local workers wondering, "what would I do?"Cody Perron, COO of the security firm Fidelis Global Group, said it initially comes down to two simple things every employee can do."Number one is maintain situational awareness, so anywhere you are whether it's public or your office space," Perron said. "If it's in public, be concerned with your surroundings and notice things that stand out, that are counter to normal activity in that environment. Same thing with your office space."RELATED: Federal agents search YouTube shooter's San Diego home, family's Menifee housePerron added that knowing the facility is also important."Second thing I would say is know your facility. So when you walk inside a facility, especially where you work, you should know where your entries and exits are. You should know your emergency action plans," said Perron.Perron leads participants through workshops to practice safety measures in case of a workplace shooting. In those classes, participants are taught how to assess their situation, barricade, and some basic takedowns.RELATED: Female shooters are rare. YouTube attacker joins short listAside from sitting through a three-hour class, he said his two points are things that can be practiced every day anywhere, like noticing people dresses or behaving in alarming ways."There are things you can apply every day when you walk into an environment," Perron said. "These are things you can practice every day, that sort of become second nature." 1587
