CINCINNATI – Police arrested a Cincinnati woman Tuesday after she left her 7-month-old child in her vehicle while she visited a hair salon, according to court records.Jaimyce McClinton, 37, is charged with one count of endangering a child.An officer found McClinton's baby locked in the vehicle as the temperature outside reached 76 degrees, court records state.The arresting officer noted the “feels like” temperature outside was 84 degrees.Police said the baby was left alone in the locked vehicle for 34 minutes.Court records did not state the baby’s condition or the location of the salon. 611

CINCINNATI -- By choosing to end her treatment for advanced cervical cancer, Alicia Alexander accepted that she would die. Her plan now, she said, is to "make the best of every day" and help her four children prepare for her departure.To that end, she paid a lawyer ,000 up-front to begin putting her affairs in order, handle the future custody of her children and make sure they would have a source of income after her death.After she made the payment, the line went silent. Alexander said on Monday night she hadn't consistently heard from the attorney since April 3. In the meantime, she's received incorrect documents and excuses in response to her requests for communication.As far as she can tell, "he's swamped," she said."He has a booked schedule or he can't get the other attorney on the phone or the magistrate's out," she said. "I'll call his office, and they'll say he's out of town. He'll say he's been sick. It's never his fault. I know it's not my fault. I don't know what else I can do."Attorney Cathy Cook, who is not involved in Alexander's case, said it was highly unusual for anyone practicing family law to be as uncommunicative as the attorney in question. Her office "never goes more than a week without an update" for the client, she said, and connects them with multiple lines of contact in case their primary attorney is unavailable.Alexander's doctors predicted in June she might have as little as a year left to spend with her children and make plans for their futures. She doesn't have time to waste.For clients like her, Cook said, the only remaining step is to contact the local bar association."See if they have any knowledge of anything that could be going wrong, and if they don't, then you're going to have to file what we call a grievance," she said.Doing so would take even more time that Alexander can't spare, and it could end with her back in the same position: Ill, running out of money and trying to distribute the remains of a fast-ending life."I really just want to live every day as best I can, and worry about this stuff every day … it's a burden," she said. "To come up with thousands of dollars all over again just to do something I've already paid to have done is a really bitter pill to swallow."When WCPO reached out to Alexander's attorney, he said he checks his messages constantly and was handling her case appropriately. However, other clients have made similar complaints about him online. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Chula Vista police officer shot and killed a man who stabbed him several times in the face Tuesday night.Two officers got a call from a resident on Melrose Ave. who said a man threw a piece of concrete the size of a baseball at his head abouut 9 p.m.The officers determined the man was at a home on Monterey Ave. and went to the address at 10:25 p.m., police said.A woman opened the home's front door to the two officers.  The man began assaulting the first officer, police said, and they scuffled.Police tell 10News the man stabbed the officer up to half a dozen times in the head and face. The officer fired several times in self-defense, police said.At least one shot hit the man, who died on his way to the hospital.  CVPD identified him as 27-year-old David Scott.The second officer and the department chaplain, who was on a ridealong, were able to assist the injured officer. Part of the lyrics includes, "When you're weak, I'll be strong. And when you let go, I'll hold on." If you're familiar with the song, then you know it's about the battle against breast cancer, and it's the mantra for a small business in Chula Vista. On the surface, it may appear to be an ordinary beauty salon. But there is nothing ordinary about what's happening at Rico's on 3rd. Anna Maria "Snooky" Rico is the owner, stylist, and angelic spirit of Rico's. "Everything that happens in this room is free of charge," says a smiling Rico. Rico is showing off a private room in her Third Avenue salon. It's home to the Loving You Through It Foundation, where over 800 women have transformed from cancer patients to cancer fighters. "Giving and serving others is good medicine," adds Rico. "It's good medicine to help others."Rico's medicine is pure love and compassion. When the women are ready, faced with the loss of their hair because of chemotherapy, she offers to either cut their hair or shave their heads and then helps them pick out head covers, scarves, or custom wigs provided by the American Cancer Society. "We try to meet them at their point of need," says Rico. "What is it that you would like for us to do for you today?"And there are so many grateful clients that Rico has served. "She's uh, she's like a sister to me," says Delia Calara. Calara was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was given a pamphlet about Rico's services at the hospital. It was just what she needed during a desperate, dark time in her life. "You know when people come through here, we're apprehensive, we're fearful," says Calara through tears. "And then, when we leave, we're just overwhelmed, and I tell her I love her, and thank you."Kathleen Kubik, another client, was just diagnosed with breast cancer in April. In an attempt to explain the battle she was about to undergo, Rico reminded Kubik how soldiers shave their heads before entering the military. "They shave their heads, their hair because it's a hindrance for battle. That's what sold me," says Kubik. "We see them at their crisis moment. I know what it's like to be in that type of crisis," adds Rico. Snooky Rico knows the battle well because she too has been in those very same trenches, battling breast cancer. Rico herself is a cancer survivor. "One thing I always encourage the ladies is to never look at yourself through other people's eyes, to remember who you are," adds Rico. "You have to remember that you're a mother, you're a daughter, you're a sister, you're an aunt. All that you are to those people remember who you are." 2752
