SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a man they say robbed two Wells Fargo locations over the last two months.The man entered the Wells Fargo at 5522 Balboa Ave. just after 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 and handed the teller a note demanding money, according to FBI investigators. The man then left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.Investigators believe the same man also robbed another Wells Fargo location at 276 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 6. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Derek Swenningsen isn't the typical for trainer for puppies who go to become service animals but right now, volunteers like him are all Tender Loving Canines had. "We're making arrangements and trying to recruit new volunteers to take those puppies until volunteer programs inside prisons can pick back up again," said Victoria Cavaliere with TLC. TLC's 8-week-old puppies started out in prisons where inmates train them before they went to helping those in need. "We teach incarcerated individuals who are in the program how to train dogs to become service dogs using only positive reinforcement."But since COVID-19, they had to switch gears. "We’re looking for someone who is just passionate about the mission and has the time to open up their homes to having a puppy in their home," allowing those like Swenningsen to take their place as trainers."I feel obligated to do my best and make sure Fiji gets the best he can to make it through the program and help a fellow veteran out."Veterans and those who have disabilities or other medical conditions relied on service animals, putting TLC's dogs in demand, even amid a pandemic."To take a dog from a little puppy and mold it into what you want it to be which is this amazing superhero for someone with a disability and help give them independence and get them out of their homes and be part of the world."TLC partnered with Guide Dogs of America and has been in service for 20 years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- For quite some time, it looked as if it would never happen, but now it's a great to be an Aztec, as ground has finally been broken on the SDSU West Mission Valley Project. And what an exciting times it is, as the centerpiece of the plans includes a brand new stadium. "It will become the signature project that defines the future. Not only for SDSU, but for higher education in California," says San Diego State President Adela de la Torre.The project will include an innovative educations district, 86 acres of land used for a park and recreation, affordable housing, a hotel, and of course, a 35 thousand seat stadium "I can't wait to see the team run on to Basher field and enjoy the cheers of 35 thousand fans,"says de la Torre.Equally excited is Aztecs Director of Athletics JD Wicker."We are building a stadium for Aztecs football, international and professional soccer, concerts, and any other event you can think of. You name it, we'll host it."And who knows, maybe someday San Diego will see the return of the NFL.Jack McGrory, a member of the SDSU Board of Trustees, says the new stadium will be built with the NFL in mind. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of dogs affected by Hurricane Michael have a new home in San Diego.The San Diego Humane Society is taking in 93 dogs from various shelters impacted by the category 4 storm last week along the panhandle.The dog-only charter flight landed at Gillespie Field Thursday afternoon with dozens of volunteers helping unload them.The flight carried pets transferred from St. Joseph Bay Humane Society, the Escambia County Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of Bay County.The Humane Society says the dogs still need to be spayed, neutered and micro-chipped, but they hope to start adopting them out in two weeks. 649
