PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — As the coronavirus continues to grip parts of South Florida, there are growing concerns over hospitalizations and the numbers of intensive care unit beds available.Last week the Sunshine State hit another grim milestone with more than 1,800 hospitalizations — the highest in a single day since the start of the pandemic, according to state records.Many hospitals are taking action against the record-setting numbers.Some hospitals in the state, including Bethesda East, Bethesda West and Boca Raton Regional Center in South Florida, are now rescheduling elective procedures that require overnight stays to help free up space.In Florida, 56 hospital ICUs have hit capacity and another 35 hospitals show ICU bed availability of 10% or less.As of Wednesday morning, many Palm Beach County hospital ICUs were reportedly near capacity.Florida Gov. Ron Desantis said hospitals are seeing more patients who are coming in for other reasons and then learning they have COVID-19. He added that is part of the reason the positive numbers are rising."People didn't all of the sudden stop having heart attacks," DeSantis said. Police Chief Mike Koval in Madison, Wisconsin arrested WISC-TV Meteorologist Dave Caufield during a live newscast for "stealing spring," according to the station.Koval and Capt. Cory Nelson 'arrested' Caufield for charges of spreading false hope for warmer weather and not following through on promises."You are so infatuated with breaking records that we believe you are instigating this prolonged pain and misery," Koval said.Caufield said he's taking the fall for Mother Nature's crimes.Although we're all upset about the weather, the only one to blame here is Mother Nature herself. PACIFIC BEACH (CNS) - A family fight ended with a man being stabbed today in Pacific Beach.Investigators say the relatives were in a park at Crown Point at midnight when an argument broke out.It's unclear what the disagreement was about, but a 25-year-old man ended up with two stab wounds, police said.``Everyone fled in different directions,'' said Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department, describing how the family members dispersed along the 3700 block of Crown Point Drive.The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition, he said.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the SDPD Northern Division at 858-552-1700 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 701

Police searched early Thursday for a man who robbed a Nashville area pizza chain at gunpoint.Metro Nashville Police officers were called to the Domino's Pizza on Hamilton Crossing in Antioch at about midnight Thursday.  Two employees told officers they heard the drive-thru bell go off, and saw a Toyota Camry parked a short distance from the window. When one of the employees approached the window, he told officers a man who had been crouching below the window jumped up and pointed a handgun at the worker.Police said the suspect then crawled through the drive-thru window and demanded the workers empty the cash register. He took the cash and left the Domino's through the drive-thru window. The victims told police they saw the suspect get into the white Toyota Camry they saw parked away from the window. Neither Domino's worker was hurt in the robbery. Investigators don't have much in the way of a description of the suspect, as the victims told them he had his face covered with a black and white bandana. Officers at the scene told us there is surveillance video that they are reviewing. Police asked for the public’s help Wednesday to identify a man they say tried to kidnap a 3-year-old from a grocery store in Brooklyn.The child was in a stroller and with his grandmother at the Thanksgiving Supermarket, at 2239-2247 86 St. in Gravesend, Monday around 3:49 p.m. when the incident occurred, police said.While the grandmother wasn't looking, police said a man grabbed the stroller and took off. 416
