VISTA (CNS) - An Oceanside man who allegedly fatally struck a pedestrian in a crosswalk while fleeing from another crash was charged Friday with murder, among other charges.Wesley Stuart, 27, was also charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit-and-run and drunken driving, and faces 15 years to life in state prison if convicted of all charges stemming from the Tuesday night death of 65-year-old Tran Thanhminh of Oceanside.Police said the initial crash was reported shortly after 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at Douglas Drive and Mission Avenue.RELATED: 65-year-old man killed, driver arrested in Oceanside hit-and-runInvestigators believe Stuart was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and was speeding eastbound on Mission, ran a red light and collided with a Ford F-150 pickup that was northbound on Douglas, Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis said.After the crash, the Chevy driver backed up and headed east on Mission, where he struck Thanhminh in a crosswalk, dragging him about 150 feet down the street, the sergeant said.Thanhminh, who died at the scene, was with his wife at the time, though she was not struck, authorities said.The couple had just closed their restaurant for the day and were walking home when he was hit, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, which stated that his wife had already crossed the street when she heard the crash, but did not see her husband when she turned to look into the street.Stuart allegedly continued on Mission before getting out of the pickup at Rancho Del Oro and fleeing on foot with a passenger, Davis said.Officers searched the area with the help of a police helicopter and apprehended the two outside Stuart's home, Oceanside police spokesman Tom Bussey said.Stuart was arrested. (KGTV) - A local couple is defending themselves after having their claims questioned following the release of new surveillance video showing a man allegedly trying to snatch a toddler from their car in a Vista Costco parking lot last weekend.The surveillance video released Thursday night shows 37-year-old Adam Glavinic walking up to the driver's side of the parent’s white SUV. The SUV begins slowly backing out of the stall, and that is when Glavinic reaches for the rear passenger door handle. Glavinic is shown opening the door then quickly shutting it and stepping away as a woman gets out the driver’s seat to confront him. Glavinic doesn't appear to reach inside to grab the boy who was in the backseat, according to his parents.“There's way more to this story that people don't know,” said mother Jennifer Lawson on Friday. She said that she and her fiancé are taking heat from the public after describing the encounter differently from what the video reveals. “We didn't lie. We were told that from everybody who was seeing the incident that he did touch our kid. He did reach his hand in the car. So, that's what we went off of. I didn't see [it] because I jumped out of the car as soon as I saw that guy open up the door,” she told ABC10 News.Earlier this week before the video came out, the couple said the man tried to pull their boy out of his car seat.Glavinic was arrested for attempted kidnapping and being under the influence.In response to community outrage over Glavinic posting bail and getting out of jail the next day, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department published the video in hopes of alleviating concern.The sheriff's office said that, based on the video and other evidence, "the Vista Sheriff's Station believes there is no ongoing threat or danger to our community's children related to this incident."When asked if Glavinic should still be charged, Lawson replied, “I'm not sure. I don't know his intentions. I didn’t know if he was going to kidnap my kid or hurt him. All I know is that it was terrifying and I was scared for my kid's life, safety [and] everything.”The case has been referred to the DA's Office, which is reviewing it. VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- Michael Yager says he was outraged after learning his son, Jacob, bullied multiple classmates at New Smyrna Beach Middle School in Volusia County, Florida. "I figured I would teach him a lesson that would embarrass him and make him feel the way kids feel," he said.Wanting to teach his 13-year-old a lesson the frustrated father took an unorthodox approach. "I wrote the sign, I'm a bully. Honk if you hate bullies." Yager drove his son to nearby State Route 442 and parked him on a busy corner.His son had to hold the sign high."Embarrassed and kind of nervous," Jacob admitted.He says it did not take long for people to start honking.  Some even stopped to talk to father and son."I had Edgewater Police stop by, I had Volusia County Sheriffs. I had a good response from the neighborhood," Jacob's father said.But he acknowledged not everyone agrees with his parenting. "I had one woman come up and call me every name in the book. "How do you respond to parents who say putting your son out on the road is, in fact, bullying your own son?" he was asked."In my mind, I was doing the right thing, but I guess you cannot please everybody," Michael Yager said. A recent staggering statistic shows one out of every five students report being bullied. Jacob said he has learned a valuable lesson. "You never know what someone can be going through.
