The former police officer who knelt on the neck of George Floyd prior to Floyd's death in May has been released on bail, according to WCCO-TV and The Washington Post.Bail in his case had been set at .25 million, or million with conditions, according to WCCO. NBC News reports that Chauvin's release was conditional.Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter in connection with Floyd's death.Three other former police officers — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao — face charges of aiding and abetting murder and manslaughter.Floyd's death sparked nationwide protests against systemic racism and police brutality across the country throughout the summer.Ben Crump, a civil rights attorney who has been working with the Floyd statement, decried Chauvin's release. ”Derek Chauvin’s release on bond is a painful reminder to George Floyd’s family that we are still far from achieving justice for George," Crump said in a statement. "The system of due process worked for Chauvin and afforded him his freedom while he awaits trial. In contrast, George Floyd was denied due process, when his life was ended over a bill. The Dallas Police Department said on Tuesday evening that two of its officers and a civilian loss prevention officer were shot at a Dallas Home Depot. The Dallas Police confirmed earlier in the evening that the two officer were in critical condition. Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said late Tuesday evening that all three victims are out of surgery in a Dallas hospital. "We're asking for your continued prayers for them and their families," Hall said. The shooting reportedly took place around 4:11 p.m. local time.  In a press conference, police identified Armando Juarez, 29, as a person of interest. He is believed to have left the incident driving a white pickup truck. Around 9 p.m. local time, Juarez was arrested after a car pursuit involving Dallas Police and a white pickup truck.Hall said that Juarez will be charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, and also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is embarking on a rebranding effort of sorts.The church, commonly referred to as the Mormons, really wants people to stop using that word. It also wants people to stop using LDS as an abbreviation. From now on, it prefers that people use the church's full name, and when a shortened reference is needed, to just use "the Church" or "Church of Jesus Christ."These preferences are contained in a new style guide that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released Thursday. It states that while "the term 'Mormon Church' has long been publicly applied to the Church as a nickname, it is not an authorized title, and the Church discourages its use." It also asks that the term "Mormons" not be used in references to members.Also out: the word "Mormonism," which the style guide states is an "inaccurate" word to use to describe the "doctrine, culture and lifestyle unique to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
