Chen Jianfeng, director of the anti-human trafficking office at the ministry's Criminal Investigation Department, promised tougher measures against traffickers: "Women are not commodities, and they should not be marketed. We will deepen practical cooperation on law enforcement with Vietnam to crack down on such crimes."
Chen took her roses to the tea market in Chengdu, the Sichuan capital. Tea dealers told her they were the best roses they had ever seen and promised to buy as may as she had.

Chen's story is not uncommon. In 2016, there were over 9 million left-behind children across the country and 90 percent of them lived in the less-developed central and western regions. Hunan now has about 700,000 left-behind children.
Chen said he was happy to try to forget the discrimination he had experienced.
