SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man found with gunshot injuries inside a car on a Mountain View street died after being taken to the hospital, San Diego police said.At around 11:50 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the 1100 block of S. 45th Street in response to a report of shots fired.When officer arrived at the scene, they found a man unresponsive inside a vehicle. The man had “apparent trauma to his upper body,” according to police.The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A hot air balloon with 14 passengers and a pilot on board made an unplanned landing in Rancho Pe?asquitos Sunday night.The balloon set down on a hillside at Pe?asquitos Drive and Del Diablo Way west of Interstate 15 about 7:15 p.m.The community jumped in to help, keeping the basket stable and helping the passengers exit safely, according to the San Diego Police Department.RELATED: Hot air balloon pilot talks to 10News about landing in Sabre Springs parkWitnesses helped the pilot bring the basket down to the street where it could be picked up by the owner, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A newly-released poll shows key San Diego County races are undecided ahead of the June 5 primary election.Many of the 1,100 voters questioned in the scientific 10News/Union-Tribune poll showed no clear preference for non-partisan positions including District Attorney, Sheriff, and County Assessor.DISTRICT ATTORNEYSummer Stephan, the interim San Diego County District Attorney, held 35 percent of the vote to Genevieve Jones-Wright’s 22 percent. Stephan led among Republicans, white voters, and those over 35 years old. Jones-Wright led among Democrats, and Latino and younger voters. 43 percent of voters were undecided in the race.Stephan was appointed by the Board of Supervisors last year to fill the remainder for Bonnie Dumanis’ term. Jones-Wright is a Deputy Public Defender. The two have met in several public forums.  SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFFIncumbent Sheriff Bill Gore led Sheriff’s Department commander Dave Meyers by 10 percent in the poll. However, 33 percent of voters were undecided.Gore had stronger support from senior citizens, white voters and conservatives.  COUNTY ASSESSOR/RECORDER/COUNTY CLERKThe countywide election pitting incumbent Ernest Dronenburg Jr. against ethics attorney Matt Strabone shows voters were essentially tied, with a 6.3 percent margin of error. Dronenburg held 20 percent of the vote to Strabone’s 17 percent.An overwhelming 63 percent of voters were undecided.  VOTER BREAKDOWN84 percent of those surveyed said they were registered to vote in California. 14 percent were not, and 2 percent were not sure.About half of San Diegans said they would definitely vote in the June 5 election. About a fourth said they would likely vote. A combined 11 percent said they were unlikely or certain not to vote.According to the Registrar of Voters, 75 percent of those eligible to vote in the county are registered. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Portland nonprofit is spreading hope and strength where it's needed most, to children and teens battling cancer, living with special needs, or coping after trauma.The Capes and Crowns Foundation gives these warriors a chance to live out their superhero fantasy for a day, dressing them up in the hero, princess or athlete of their choice.With the help of imagination and Photoshop, the result is a captivating photo the family can cherish forever. “It reminds these kids they are the real superheroes," said Kylie Cole, Founder and President of the foundation.Because many of the children have a terminal illness, Cole says every photo shoot must be perfect.Her team goes the extra mile, not only with staged photo shoots but also photographing hospice sessions and memorial services.“It's very obvious, this is what my entire life was meant for," said Cole.Capes and Crowns is touring the country to reach as many kids as possible.For the Los Angeles/San Diego trip, costumes alone cost ,000.The team hopes people watching will be inspired by their mission and donate to help more kids live out their wildest imaginations.  1165

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A human smuggler reportedly used two children as decoys by dropping them over the border into concertina wire, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. CBP reports that two Salvadoran girls, ages six and nine, were dropped roughly eight feet from the San Diego border behind concertina wire late Monday night. “Agents responded and moments later, a group of 10 individuals crossed the border in the area agents vacated,” said Rodney Scott, Chief Patrol Agent for the U.S. Border Patrol. Scott said on social media that the group eluded capture. The two young girls were given medical attention for what CBP called minor injuries. The agency is working with the consulate in El Salvador to locate the girls’ parents, the agency said.
