JULIAN (CNS) - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Julian on Saturday.California Highway Patrol officers headed to state Route 79 near Sunrise Highway about 1:50 p.m. for a report that a Toyota 4Runner had struck a motorcycle and pinned the rider underneath the vehicle, according to a CHP incident log.The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cal Fire San Diego. No identifying information on the victim was available.One-way traffic control was in place while authorities investigated and worked to clean up the crash, according to the CHP. 579

JAPATUL VALLEY (CNS) - A fire that has blackened 17,665 acres in rural eastern San Diego County remains at 87% containment Sunday, authorities said."Fire activity was minimal overnight as firefighters continue to mop up hot spots and secure the fire perimeter," according to a U.S. Forest Service news statement. "Structure defense remains a priority for values at risk. Every day the fire stays within its current perimeter, the threat to the adjacent communities continues to diminish. (KGTV) — A family-owned Mexican restaurant in La Jolla that was a local favorite for 52 years has officially closed its doors.On Monday, crews began clearing out Su Casa Mexican restaurant on La Jolla Blvd. The restaurant, known for its margaritas and fresh guacamole prepared at the table, opened in 1967."I feel like I'm losing a lot of my own history. It's really sad," said longtime customer Eric Lind.Lind estimated that he and his family ate at Su Casa roughly 200 times since the 1970s."It was just the food, the hospitality, and the ambiance. Everything about it, the whole package, it was just special," he said.On Facebook, dozens of customers posted farewells and memories. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities in East Tennessee have asked the public to be on the lookout after a tiger was spotted near an industrial park.The Knox County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy spotted the tiger Wednesday night in the Forks of the River Industrial Park.The sheriff’s office says several agencies are looking for the tiger, including the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Knoxville police’s Animal Control Unit and representatives with Tiger Haven, which is located in Kingsport.Investigators say there have been no other sightings.
