(KGTV) — On the heels of several casino reopenings in San Diego County, Harrah's Resort is phasing in hotel guests after it started its reopening process Friday.The casino and resort says it has instituted new policies surrounding cleaning and sanitation and physical distancing to adhere to county guidelines and fight the spread of COVID-19.Changes at the resort include:"All guests will be required to wear their own face mask and will receive temperature checks prior to entering the building All guests must be 21 and older All teammates will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and will receive temperature checks at the beginning of each shiftProper social distancing must be practiced at all times in all areas of the resort. Security personnel will be prominent throughout the resort to enforce social distancing guidelinesFrequent handwashing and hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the resortLimited food and beverage offeringsSlot machine banks will be arranged to allow for proper social distancing, as defined by gaming regulationTable games will be limited to a max of three players per blackjack table and four players per roulette" Tuesday, the resort announced that its hotel has reopened with limited room availability. The hotel is also currently only open to those 21 year of age or older. VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Authorities have released surveillance footage showing Naya Rivera before her disappearance and the 911 call that led to the search for the "Glee" star.Rivera is presumed dead after disappearing while boating with her 4-year-old son at Lake Piru in Southern California.The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says Rivera rented a boat at the lake Wednesday afternoon and went for an excursion with her son. Thursday evening, officers released security camera footage of the two at the boat launch.Boaters tell authorities that they later found Rivera’s boat drifting in the northern portion of the lake with her son sleeping onboard. A woman called 911 and notified law enforcement of the situation."The emergency is: We have a missing person," an employee of the rental boat business said. "We found a little girl in one of the boats by herself, and the mom's nowhere to be found."The 911 caller initially said the boy was a girl, because of his long hair, KCBS reports.Rivera’s son told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the lake and he had gotten back on the boat, but his mom didn’t.Authorities say the child had a life vest on and an adult life vest was found on the boat. The child is healthy and with family.Since Rivera’s disappearance, authorities have been using helicopters, boat crews, divers and unmanned aerial vehicles to search the lake, but there’s been no sign of Rivera yet.Thursday evening, the sheriff’s office announced that the search for the actress has turned into a recovery mission and that she is presumed dead.“Investigators believe Rivera drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident,” the office wrote in a press release.Rivera is best known for her role as Santana on the Fox TV show “Glee.” She appeared in nearly every episode of the musical comedy drama since 2009. 1856

Veterinarians are seeing an alarming increase in the number of cases of the canine parvovirus.Nationally, Blue Pearl pet hospitals report a 70 percent increase of the virus compared to statistics collected the previous five years.While an exact reason for the spike has yet to be determined, veterinarians suspect the coronavirus pandemic can shoulder some of the blame.“If people are staying home and have strict stay at home orders, probably vet visits aren’t the first thing on their minds,” said Dr. Lenore Bacek with Blue Pearl. “Financially, some people took a large hit to their normal finances during this time and routine vaccines weren’t a priority.”She added that people may be taking their newly adopted puppies to dog parks before they are fully vaccinated.Parvovirus is highly contagious because it can live on surfaces like grass or blankets for months and years.“Just assume it’s in the environment and don’t take your puppy somewhere other dogs have been,” Dr. Bacek said.Symptoms of the virus include vomiting and diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, weakness and weight loss.Dogs can’t pass the virus to humans. However, the increase of parvovirus cases could mean other important vaccines are being neglected.“We worry if they are not getting parvo vaccines, are we missing things like rabies vaccines, which could have a public health implication?” Dr. Bacek said.Puppies are most at risk, but the virus can also impact adult dogs. Veterinarians recommend adults receive a booster vaccine every three years.If a dog falls ill, they can face expensive treatment.“With aggressive treatment, hospitalization, IV fluid therapy, supportive care, the survival rate is high, close to 90 percent,” Dr. Bacek said.However, the financial and emotional toll of a dog getting sick can be avoided with proper vaccines.“We want to make sure as the first wave continues and second waves comes, that vets are seen as an important factor in public health,” Dr. Bacek said.KSTU's John Franchi was first to report this story. 2051

VALLEY CENTER, Calif. (KGTV) -- The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a North County man who disappeared November 14. According to authorities, 54-year-old Brian Lee Danelson was reported missing November 20 after disappearing from the Harvest Farms Market in Valley Center days earlier. Danelson left without his wallet and his cellphone was disconnected, according to his family.Deputies have searched the area surrounding his home in Valley Center and have checked with hospitals to see whether or not he was admitted. According to the Department, Danelson has a tattoo of a tiger on his inner left calf. He is described as six foot tall with gray hair and blue eyes. Twenty years after he was killed for being gay, Matthew Shepard was laid to rest today.Shepard was given a special honor of being laid to rest at the Washington National Cathedral. Shepard’s father said today was a sense of relief.“It's so important,” says Dennis Shepard. “We now have a home for Matt others can visit; safe from haters.”Shepard died after being beaten and tied to a fence in Wyoming by two men who targeted him for being gay. Shepard became a symbol of the gay rights movement after his death, and now, his ashes will be interred at the Washington National Cathedral.“The Shepard's waited so long to bury Matthew’s ashes because they were fearful that some anti-gay individual or group would find his grave and desecrate it somehow,” says Rev. Gene Robinson, who helped lead Friday’s service.Robinson was the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church, and he carried Shepard's ashes into the cathedral.“And because he's become such a symbol for us, it feels like an indescribable honor to bring him into church,” says Robinson.The National Cathedral gave Shepard the unique honor of being laid to rest there.
