GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — An FBI agent testified during a court hearing in Michigan that members of anti-government paramilitary groups discussed kidnapping Virginia’s governor during a June meeting in Ohio.Special Agent Richard Trask was part of the investigation that led to six men being arrested and charged last week with plotting to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.Seven other men face state terrorism charges, in connection with the plot.Trask on Tuesday did not name Virginia’s Democratic governor, Ralph Northam, during his testimony in a federal courtroom in Grand Rapids. “They discussed possible targets, taking a sitting governor, specifically issues with the governor of Michigan and Virginia based on the lockdown orders,” Trask said.The agent said members of anti-government groups from multiple states attended the meeting and that attendees were unhappy with the governors’ actions to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.Ultimately, the plan was to kidnap Whitmer and "place her on trial" in a different location, the agent said.The hearing was held to review investigators’ evidence against five of the men involved, and whether they should be detained before trial. GASLAMP QUARTER (KGTV) - A benefit was held Sunday night for a local woman injured in a parasailing accident in Mexico. On June 9th, Katie Malone was in Puerto Vallarta to celebrate her 29th birthday when tragedy struck. According to a local newspaper, Malone was parasailing when the rope tethered to a boat somehow broke and left her flying through the air.Malone crash-landed at an airport and suffered a fractured skull, fractured pelvis, broken ribs, a collapsed lung and other injuries. Donations helped pay for her treatment and life flight from Mexico back to San Diego. She spent about a month in the hospital. For the past few months, Malone has been in physical therapy and working to get stronger everyday. She says she is a year ahead of schedule."When it first happened, I just wanted to move forward and not dwell on things," Malone said. "I would do physical therapy and in between physical therapy I would do homework they gave me to do."  Malone is extremely thankful to family and friends who have been there for her and helped her move forward.Sunday night's benefit was held at "Tin Roof" in the Gaslamp Quarter. The benefit was to raise money for Malone's medical bills.Malone said she might go parasailing again, but not anytime soon. 1315

GENEVA (AP) — Russia has been banned from using its name, flag and anthem at the next two Olympics or at any world championships for the next two years. The Court of Arbitration for Sport’s ruling also blocks Russia from bidding to host major sporting events for two years. Russian athletes and teams will still be allowed to compete at next year’s Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing if they are not implicated in doping or covering up positive tests. The punishments are less than the four-year ban the World Anti-Doping Agency had proposed.One small win for Russia is the proposed team name at major events. The name “Russia” can be retained on uniforms if the words “Neutral Athlete” or “Neutral Team” have equal prominence, the court said.Still, the court’s three judges imposed the most severe penalties on Russia since allegations of state-backed doping and cover-ups emerged after the 2014 Sochi Olympics.The case centered on accusations that Russian state authorities tampered with a database from the Moscow testing laboratory before handing it over to WADA investigators last year.
