Parents know that a road trip with a baby can be a nightmare. Even stopping for a break hardly counts as "rest." And when it comes to twins? Forget about it.One Reddit user, posting under the handle "neroiscariot" found himself in that exact situation. He says he was returning from his brother's funeral with his wife and twin babies when the family stopped at an IHOP. In an already stressful situation, the poster says he was struggling to keep his children calm.Though the two fussy children seemed to be bothering diners around the restaurant, one customer went of their way to brighten the family's day."A stranger picked up our tab at IHOP while my wife and I were struggling to keep our twin babies calm. We cried," neroiscariot posted. He included a photo of a receipt that included the message "Just breathe you're doing great :)."  875

OWENTON, Ky. -- A McDonald's worker who handled food while infected with hepatitis A might have spread the illness to customers, according to a news release from the Three Rivers District Health Department in Kentucky. The announcement arrived less than a week after a similar one from Clermont County, where a Taco Bell worker was diagnosed with the virus."While it is relatively uncommon for restaurant patrons to become infected with hepatitis A due to an infected food handler, anyone who consumed food or drink at the Owenton McDonald's (between Aug. 16-27) is advised to get a hepatitis A vaccination," district health officials wrote in a news release. The McDonald's in question is located at 506 South Main Street in Owenton, Kentucky.Officials added the McDonald's management was cooperating with their investigation, employees had been told to receive a vaccination and the entire staff reviewed standard hygiene practices to prevent transmission.Kentucky is in the midst of a statewide outbreak of hepatitis A, a liver infection that can remain asymptomatic for many weeks before causing fatigue, nausea, joint paint and low-grade fevers. People with existing health problems, especially older adults, can sometimes experience sudden liver shutdowns, according to Mayo Clinic. Hepatitis A is normally transmitted through small particles of feces that remain on an infected person's hands after using the restroom. If they prepare food or drink afterward, they can potentially infect large numbers of unsuspecting people. Effective hand-washing and vaccination reduce the risk of the infection spreading. 1632

PEORIA, AZ - An Amber Alert for a 2-year-old girl abducted from Peoria Monday morning has been canceled after the girl was found safe several hours later. According to Peoria police, Khaleesi Morales was taken by her non-custodial father, 32-year-old Luis Jesus Morales, around 6 a.m. from a residence near Lake Pleasant and Beardsley roads.Luis is the defendant on an Order or Protection not to have contact with the girl or her mother. According to officials, Luis was arrested and booked into jail by Peoria police Sunday night after violating that Order of Protection, but was released at 5:14 a.m. on Monday.Police said Luis went to the child's Peoria home Monday morning, opened a window, broke the screen out, stepped on his young son's hand and assaulted the mother before taking Khaleesi. He reportedly stole the mother's vehicle and headed southbound on Lake Pleasant Road. Police say there were several box knives in the stolen vehicle. An Amber Alert was issued around 8 a.m. Monday for Khaleesi.Around 1 p.m., police said the Peoria SWAT team was able to locate the girl and Luis at a business near 99th Avenue and Beardsley Road, just a short distance from where the toddler was abducted. Khaleesi was "safe and unharmed" and was asking for her mother. Luis was taken into custody without incident.Khaleesi was reunited with her mother at the Peoria Police Department Monday afternoon. Luis is being charged with kidnapping, burglary, aggravated assault, violation of a court order and auto theft. PHOENIX — Rick Davis, Senator John McCain’s former presidential campaign manager and a family spokesman, read a farewell statement from Senator McCain at a press conference in Phoenix on Monday morning. It reads as follows:“My fellow Americans, whom I have gratefully served for sixty years, and especially my fellow Arizonans,“Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for the rewarding life that service in uniform and in public office has allowed me to lead. I have tried to serve our country honorably. I have made mistakes, but I hope my love for America will be weighed favorably against them.“I have often observed that I am the luckiest person on earth. I feel that way even now as I prepare for the end of my life. I have loved my life, all of it. I have had experiences, adventures and friendships enough for ten satisfying lives, and I am so thankful. Like most people, I have regrets. But I would not trade a day of my life, in good or bad times, for the best day of anyone else’s. “I owe that satisfaction to the love of my family. No man ever had a more loving wife or children he was prouder of than I am of mine. And I owe it to America. To be connected to America’s causes – liberty, equal justice, respect for the dignity of all people – brings happiness more sublime than life’s fleeting pleasures. Our identities and sense of worth are not circumscribed but enlarged by serving good causes bigger than ourselves.“‘Fellow Americans’ – that association has meant more to me than any other. I lived and died a proud American. We are citizens of the world’s greatest republic, a nation of ideals, not blood and soil. We are blessed and are a blessing to humanity when we uphold and advance those ideals at home and in the world. We have helped liberate more people from tyranny and poverty than ever before in history. We have acquired great wealth and power in the process.“We weaken our greatness when we confuse our patriotism with tribal rivalries that have sown resentment and hatred and violence in all the corners of the globe. We weaken it when we hide behind walls, rather than tear them down, when we doubt the power of our ideals, rather than trust them to be the great force for change they have always been.“We are three-hundred-and-twenty-five million opinionated, vociferous individuals. We argue and compete and sometimes even vilify each other in our raucous public debates. But we have always had so much more in common with each other than in disagreement. If only we remember that and give each other the benefit of the presumption that we all love our country we will get through these challenging times. We will come through them stronger than before. We always do.“Ten years ago, I had the privilege to concede defeat in the election for president. I want to end my farewell to you with the heartfelt faith in Americans that I felt so powerfully that evening.I feel it powerfully still.“Do not despair of our present difficulties but believe always in the promise and greatness of America, because nothing is inevitable here. Americans never quit. We never surrender. We never hide from history. We make history.“Farewell, fellow Americans. God bless you, and God bless America.” 3241

Police say a white gunman opened fire at a Kentucky grocery store, killing two African-Americans, after he tried and failed to enter a predominantly black church nearby.Gregory Bush, 51 was indicted on five counts Wednesday, including murder and attempted murder; none of them were hate crime charges, despite comments from authorities that the shootings appear to be racially motivated.CNN has reached out to a public defender for Bush and is waiting to hear back.Prosecutor Tom Wine said that because Kentucky's hate crime statute does not include homicides, Bush was not charged with a hate crime for the deaths."A hate crime designation only occurs when the judge makes such a determination at sentencing. If the judge finds a hate crime designation is appropriate, it doesn't add any additional time. The designation is only useful if the judge wishes to deny probation or the parole board wants to defer parole," Wine said in a statement.Hate crimes are considered more difficult to charge and prosecute than other criminal charges, largely because they require law enforcement to prove a specific motivation of bias.Additionally, federal investigators are looking into potential civil rights violations, including hate crimes, said Russell M. Coleman, the US attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.Bush faces two counts of murder for the shooting deaths of Maurice Stallard, 69, and Vickie Jones, 67, inside the Kroger grocery store in Jeffersontown, and in the parking lot outside, Wine said.Bush is also charged with one count of attempted murder stemming from what authorities described as an exchange of gunfire with an armed civilian. The indictment identifies the armed civilian as Dominic Rozier. Bush is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment for firing shots in the directions of two more people, Kiera Rozier and an unidentified juvenile.Jeffersontown Mayor Bill Dieruf said on Monday that the shooting is being investigated as a hate crime based on the circumstances, including the race of the victims and the defendant.Dieruf said investigators are looking into reports that Bush told a bystander before he was captured that "whites don't shoot whites."Bush remains jailed on five million dollars bond. His next court appearance is Friday, he said. 2340
