She believes this isn't just about grabbing tools and doing work, this is about families in the community.She's glad she can help them, "create their own wonderful memories, providing an environment they can have family meals in." Pasquale is part of Realty Income. The real estate company has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity. They will build 11 homes.As teams they're building fences, painting, and installing plywood. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A calm overnight allowed firefighters to make progress against a trio of massive fires burning in Northern California. But they are girding for the arrival of a weather system Sunday that will bring high winds and thunderstorms that could spark new fires and fan existing blazes that already destroyed nearly 1,000 homes and other structures and forced tens of thousands to evacuate. On Sunday, President Donald Trump said he approved a major disaster declaration for California on Saturday after speaking to California Governor Gavin Newsom."We're working very closely with the governor and very closely with a lot of great state representatives and local representatives. And we'll take care of the situation," Trump said on Sunday. Trump added that the federal government had already deployed over 26,001 first responders, and personnel to battle the wildfires.The fires surrounding the San Francisco Bay Area were started by lightning strikes that were among 12,000 registered in the state in the past week. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Jurors found ex-NFL tight end Kellen Winslow II guilty Monday on three counts including rape, lewd conduct, and indecent exposure.Around 4 p.m. Monday, the jury sent another note indicating that they remained deadlocked on the remaining eight counts. Later in the day speaking in front of the judge, one of the alternate jurors said he had doubts about juror number 12 and their memory. Deliberations are set to continue Tuesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV)— Families and friends of crime victims shared stories of their loved ones at a healing circle.On October 11, 2015, Juan Carlos Munoz got the worst news of his life. "Three years ago, we got that phone call, that our son was murdered,” Munoz said. That single phone call changed the Munoz family forever. Their son, 18-year-old Juan Carlos Munoz Jr. was shot and killed while sitting in a parked car on Prospect Street in National City. “We didn't know what to do, we didn't know where to go get help, and we didn't know how to move on in life,” Munoz said. The shooter and driver got away. Lost in the confusion, heartbreak, and an endless cycle of ‘what-ifs’ the Munoz family found the group, Crime Survivors for Safety and Justice. “We don't want any parent to join this group, because that means they lost a loved one, but this group is needed for those victims have nowhere else to turn,” Munoz said. That is why he and his wife created the San Diego chapter. 'Loss' is the only criterion for membership into this exclusive group. But sadly it is growing. On the last day on national Crime Victims Right’s Week, the San Diego chapter welcomed all members. Instead of focusing on the loss, they shared stories of their loved ones to keep their memories alive. "He had a big heart, he loved people, he loved kids, feeding the homeless,” Munoz said about his son. “Junior” wanted to be a psychologist. But he never became one.Then last year, National City Police caught a break in the case. "November, we got that phone call that we've been waiting,” Munoz said. This was the other phone call that changed their lives. The two men responsible for killing Junior were arrested. "To hear that they were caught, it's a healing process,” Munoz said. He said it is a process that will never end. But talking about him reminds Munoz that Junior never really left his heart."He gives me that strength because when I feel very lonely and sad, I just feel that extra boost, like ‘You can do this dad!’“ Munoz said. 2032

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- A lot of people will do just about anything to avoid the dentist.Needles, drilling, and pain can cause all kinds of anxiety, but a local dentist is using a new laser that he says could transform dentistry.Sara Scarafone 15, is a patient at Dr. Alex Corondoni’s office in San Carlos. “Put the sunglasses on you, and we'll get started,” Corondoni said.But instead of a drill, Corondoni is using a laser. “It's hitting that tooth at 1800 pulses a second. It's almost like if you were jack hammering something,” he said.It's called Solea.  The laser vaporizes the enamel, allowing dentists to fill cavities painlessly. Corondoni has been practicing for 28 years and says it's unlike anything he's ever seen.“I've done some big, big, big fillings, that I was like, ‘You're not feeling this?!’” And no drilling means no Novocain. “I was excited to hear that there wasn't any needles involved,” Scarafone said.“My average patients are in their 60s and 70s, so I have a lot of medications, so if they have arrhythmias or heart problems, I'm not having to give them any anesthetic.It's huge,” Corondoni said. He says this new procedure turns what normally takes an hour into less than 10 minutes. “It just felt like a lot of air, and a little bit of water,” Scarafone said.The device is made by Boston-based Convergent Delta and claims to be revolutionary-- reducing recovery time.“You're not numb. You can go to work. There's no excuses,” Corondoni said. “I can do all the different parts of the mouth at one time.”Even normally complex procedures on soft tissue like gums become more routine. “I would have had to cut it, suture it, wait a couple weeks, and now it's just done and they come back in 4 or 5 days and it's healed. It's amazing!”A nearby touch screen lets dentists adjust the speed and precision of the laser. Ultimately, Corondoni says it's not just improving his patient's experiences, but his practice and reputation.“Sometimes, I'd have to sedate patients to have them come in here, just to get a needle.” Now, he no longer feels like the enemy. “I'm a good guy now.
