Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is offering up several tips to help travelers avoid a nightmare at the security checkpoint during the week of Halloween at the airport.TSA said when it comes to masks, they ask that you refrain from wearing a Halloween mask until after you made it through the checkpoint screening. They ask that you wear a face-covering that's used to help stop the spread of COVID-19. TSA officers will ask you to remove your mask, temporarily, just so they can verify your identity at the travel document checking podium. When it comes to wearing a costume, TSA recommends you wear it after you go through the checkpoint because it could trigger an alarm, which would lead to you getting patted down.TSA also recommends that you put "realistic replica props" like pitchforks, chainsaws, brooms, or axes in your checked bag. They added that if you do put weapon-like props, like a bomb or grenade, into either your checked bag or carry-on, you run the risk of slowing down checkpoint until it's proven they are in fact fake or your checked bag not making it onto your flight. For the final tip, TSA said you are fine packing as much candy or treats you want in your checked bag or carry-on.To see what you can or cannot put in your checked bag or carry-on, you can get more answers on the TSA app to access their "Can I Bring?" feature to find out if it's something you should pack or not. 1425

TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) -- Mexican authorities said a Chula Vista woman and her friend were gunned down at a family gathering in Tijuana. Investigators said the suspect is a Tijuana firefighter who shot at the two during a jealous rage. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Roxana Diaz."She was always smiling, she was kind of crazy," said Diaz' cousin Ivett Corral. "A happy lady."Tijuana investigators said Diaz went to visit a family friend, 39-year-old Carlos Roberto Trujillo, in Tijuana Aug. 15. They and another female friend met with several Tijuana firefighters at a get-together.Early the next morning, the three friends headed to Trujillo's home at Colonia Union. Police said the three firefighters ambushed the group, shooting at Trujillo and Diaz, and kidnapping the other woman.Trujillo died just outside his home. Diaz underwent surgery at Tijuana General Hospital but died Aug. 20 after she was transferred to UCSD Medical Center. "I start crying a lot because she was like a sister to me," Corral said. "She was more than a cousin. We grew up together."Police said after the firefighters kidnapped the woman, she screamed for help at a toll plaza on the way to Ensenada. Officers were alerted and arrested the firefighters.Mexican investigators said the alleged shooter, identified only as 27-year-old Ricardo N., is the boyfriend of the woman he and his co-workers kidnapped. They said he was jealous that she was socializing with her ex-boyfriend Trujillo and Diaz.Corral said Diaz was a long-time employee at Kentucky Fried Chicken on 3rd Street in Chula Vista. She worked hard to provide for her 16-year-old son.Trujillo's family said he worked at the Tijuana Town Hall. He leaves behind three children."We just want justice," Corral said. Trujillo's family told 10News the suspects are being held in Ensenada on suspicion of kidnapping but have not been charged with the murders of Trujillo and Diaz. The families of Diaz and Trujillo have established GoFundMe accounts. 2002

THORNTON, Colo. -- People who live in the Friendly Village of the Rockies Mobile Home Park in Thornton feel like prisoners in their own homes because someone else gets to make and change the rules of their community.Several of them reached to Scripps station KMGH in Denver, claiming the rules where they live keep them trapped in a cycle of threats, fees and fines. Most of them own the homes they live in, but are still in a state of housing insecurity, they said, because of the management practices of the company that owns the park."It's just rough, you can't do anything right now," Anthony Velasquez, a resident of the community told Marchetta, "They send you letters threatening, 'If you don't like it, move.'"Velasquez and his wife are retired and moved to Friendly Village to be closer to their grandchildren. "Yes, very much," said Velasquez when asked if people were being evicted from the park.He and other residents received a letter from Friendly Village in February telling them the park is now a fence-free community.Take down your fence "... within 60 days," the letter warned. Anyone who disagrees, the letter said, "... does not have to stay."  "They're afraid of eviction, retaliation, getting kicked out...and that's probably what they'll tell us now when you talk to them and they see this (story)." Velasquez said.Contact7 drove around the neighborhood and while there were still several fences standing, some neighbors had taken theirs down."We panicked for starters," said Velasquez. That is because less than two years ago, shortly after they moved in, the couple got approval to put in a new fence around their home. The fence they installed matches the one still standing around the perimeter of the Friendly Village community."It was about a total of ,000 for everything," Velasquez said, "Before we put it in we'd have people from the other side coming through, dogs running through, walking from one side to the other, this way that way."Several residents did not want to be identified said they asked the park manager to explain the abrupt rule change."When you ask her a question all her answer is, 'It's in your lease. It's in your lease,' that's all we ever get," said Velasquez. He said he tried to reach Kingsley Management, the company in Utah that owns Friendly Village."I've sent them emails, texts. No return calls, no nothing," said Velasquez.Commercial litigation attorney Aimee Bove offered a statement a statement on behalf of the village. She said Friendly Village believes, "it is in best interest of its tenants and the park as a whole to become fenceless." The letter also said they believe "... the removal of fences decreases instances of unsupervised small children and animals."When reporters visited the park, there were several unleashed dogs and wandering cats roaming the streets and yards on the property. The park also now includes a memorial to "Sparky," a tiny family dog and loving companion to a retired couple with chronic health issues who live at Friendly Village. The family says Sparky was mauled to death by a much larger dog that escaped a fenceless home. The dog was on a leash at the time, out for a walk with its owner, Larry, who the family said watched in horror, helplessly from his wheel chair. When reporters attempted to contact Sylvia Navarrette, the manager of Friendly Village, she hid in a back office and threatened to call police if the news crew did not leave the property."It was nice when we first moved in. Management was nice. We're at that age we just want to settle down.  Spend the rest of our days here if we can," Velasquez said. The mayor's office in Thornton, Adams County Commissioners, state Senator Beth Martinez Humenik, and several regulatory agencies would not comment on who was responsible for the oversight of mobile home parks in Colorado.KMGH uncovered outdated laws with no one to enforce them on behalf of mobile homeowners and a total absence of accountability for the property owners the homes sit on.As a result, mobile home owners are often left wide-open to financial abuse in a state of housing insecurity with a system in place that allows it. 4278

THORNTON, Colo. – Police have arrested the suspect in a deadly shooting at a Thornton Walmart store.Scott Ostrem, 47, was taken into custody Thursday morning at 72nd and Federal.Witnesses told Thornton Police that Ostrem "nonchalantly" walked into the store Wednesday night, took out a handgun and began firing randomly at people. Two men and a woman were killed."This is a very heinous act," Avila said. "We don't know exactly what the motive of the person was, but it was certainly a terrible act."IMAGES | Photos capture chaotic scene after Thornton Walmart shootingPolice originally reported "multiple parties are down" after they were called around 6 p.m. to the store located at 9901 Grant Street in Thornton. The store was evacuated as authorities arrived on scene.Police found the victims in the south entrance. The two men were pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was transported to Denver Health where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have yet to identify the victims. No other physical injuries were reported. However, police say several people received medical attention for anxiety. Several distraught employees could be seen in the parking lot comforting each other.Investigators say there is no indication that terrorism was a motive, but have not ruled anything out at this point. They are still interviewing hundreds of witnesses and going through surveillance video.Special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were helping police in the investigation. The shooting at the busy shopping center forced customers to either hide in the store or frantically run for the doors.Witness Harold Stevens said he was in the store with his son when he heard at least three shots. He said an employee directed him and his son to a back door where they were able to escape safely. 1890
