(KGTV) -- The Port of San Diego and City of Chula Vista reached a milestone today, approving the financial agreement for the Chula Vista Bayfront resort hotel and convention center project."It's taken us 30 years to get to this day, and it's certainly worth it," Chula Vista Mayor, Mary Casillas Salas said. Officials also authorized a revenue-sharing agreement between the two agencies.The entire project will cost .1 billion. Of that, RIDA Developement will invest 5 million. The city and the port authority will pay for a combined 0+ million. Port commissioners said it is a large investment for an even larger long-term reward. "As far as what we'll get back, we will see an immediate impact by the fact that it's going to create 10,000 construction jobs, and it's going to put about a billion dollars in the local and regional economy," Moore said. RELATED: South Bay residents get an idea of massive bayfront developmentIn August of 2017, the City gave residents a better idea of what the Bayfront will look like in the next 20 years.The anchor for the Bayfront is set to be a .1 billion resort hotel and convention center that the city says will be built by Houston-based RIDA Development.The current Chula Vista RV Park will also move roughly a mile away to make room for construction. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — As schools try to navigate the future of in-person education in the era of coronavirus, Southwestern College is already returning some students to campus. The Southwestern College Higher Education Center in Otay Mesa welcomed nursing and health occupational students, along with students in the public safety program, back to campus June 1. These students are training to fill jobs like nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and more.Dean Sylvia Cornejo said since March, they have been using technology for remote learning, but the school has been planning on bringing these students back as quickly as possible because of their careers and the need for essential workers right now.RELATED: San Diego Office of Education releases guidance to reopen schools“The students got as far as they could with online instruction but really we needed to be able to bring them back to campus for all of their practical labs,” she said.She said this location has returned to campus because of the nature of the students, but most of the five Southwestern College locations will remain remote for the fall term. (KGTV) - Chula Vista loves to come together for a celebration, and nothing unites the community more than another Little League champion.Ten years ago, a team from Park View Little League launched a phenomenon, beating a team from Chinese Taipei to win the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Since then, three other teams have represented the South Bay in central Pennsylvania, and each time, the community rallies together for send-offs, viewing parties, and championship parades. Luke Ramirez celebrated his 13th birthday during Park View's magical run in 2009.
