FULLERTON (CNS) - A Compton couple facing criminal charges stemming from a brawl at Disneyland that was captured on video that went viral failed to appear in court this week for arraignment.Andrea Nicole Robinson, 40, and her husband, Daman Petrie, 44, were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, but they did not show up for the hearing, according to court records obtained by City News Service.It's not clear what authorities will do to compel the defendants to appear in court, but there are no more hearings scheduled so far.RELATED: Three people charged in Disneyland brawl that was caught on videoRobinson's 35-year-old brother and co-defendant, Avery Desmond-Edwinn Robinson, is due in court Sept. 30 for a pretrial hearing at the North Justice Center in Fullerton.Avery Robinson faces the most serious charges of the three defendants. He is charged with one felony count each of domestic battery with corporal injury, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury on his girlfriend and assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of criminal threats, along with five counts of battery and four counts of child abuse and endangerment, all misdemeanors.Robinson's sister is charged with four misdemeanor counts of battery for allegedly attacking her brother, his girlfriend and a Disneyland security guard, and a misdemeanor count of assault on her brother's girlfriend. She faces 2 1/2 years in jail if convicted.Petrie is charged with one count of battery on his brother-in-law's girlfriend, who was punched in the face during the July 5 scrum, and faces up to six months in jail if convicted, according to prosecutors.It's unclear what touched off the fight, which broke out in Toontown and sprawled out onto the Main Street in the famous theme park, but several Disneyland visitors tried to stop it, prosecutors said. One theme park guest put Avery Robinson in a chokehold, prosecutors said, and one of the children with the family was carried away from the brawl.When security guards asked the family to leave, there was more violence, prosecutors allege. Avery Robinson is accused of attempting to hit a security guard with his vehicle as he drove away and threatening to kill his sister and Petrie as he allegedly simulated having a gun in his hand, prosecutors said. 2297

He is currently the medical director of CHKD Medical Group and a pediatrician at Norfolk Pediatrics.“If we’re able to stick to the science in developing the vaccine, then that would be comforting if we could stick to the science and develop an effective and safe vaccine,” said Mitchell.Mitchell said the speed at which researchers are developing a vaccine to combat COVID-19 is nothing short of a miracle, but sticking to the clinical science behind the advancement is key for an effective and safe vaccine - and that takes time.“The stated goal that I saw by the CDC and/or FDA of wanting a vaccine that shows at least 50% protection and six months of safety data, that takes time,” he said. “We need a chance to show the safety profile of any new vaccine under the parameters of following the best science that we could follow.”Mitchell understands the process involved in developing a vaccine.More than 20 years ago, he was an investigator in several pediatric clinical trials. Many of the vaccines that came out of his lab are still used in children today.While there are still growing concerns about vaccines, the benefits outweigh the risks.“The flu vaccine clearly saves lives, clearly prevents illnesses, but it’s not 100% protective either, but we know it does have benefits,” Mitchell said. “The advantage there is the flu vaccine has been out for decades and we know its safety profile.”Similar to the rapid speed of developing a COVID-19 vaccine, Mitchell said a vaccine for H1N1, better known as the swine flu, was quickly put on the market.“The difference is, we already had decades of history of flu vaccines and their safety, so all that happened was developing the same flu vaccine that was protective against a different strain,” he said. “That’s a different ballgame than starting a vaccine against a totally different virus.”While the research continues, the fight against COVID-19 is far from over.According to Mitchell, the spread of the virus decreases when you reach heard immunity where enough of the population is immune.This story was first reported by Antoinette DelBel at WTKR in Norfolk, Virginia. 2363

High school sports programs around the country are trying to figure out what the fall season will look like. In California, the sports season will be delayed until December or January. So, what does that mean for students hoping to play in college?Julian Jenkins is a Senior Regional Recruiting Director for Next College Student Athlete, the largest athletic recruiting network in the world. “So it puts you in a pickle. 'How am I going to get recruited? My son is not playing for these 3-4 months, how is he or she in her sport gonna get recruited' and that’s a big question," said Jenkins.In baseball, a pickle is when a base runner is caught between two players throwing the ball back and forth. Off the field, it's students who are now trapped in the stands.“Our number one job is to help them fill their roster spots every year with potential candidates for these opportunities," Jenkins said.They work with college and high school coaches, club coaches, athletic administrators and families. They were online before the pandemic and have been around 20 years. “College coaches don’t have endless time. They’d love to be everywhere at all times, they’d love to go to every single high school game, every club tournament, but they can’t be, so they come to our website and reach out directly to our people and say 'I need an outsider hitter in volleyball, I need a quarterback in football.'"Before Covid-19, recruiters from NCSA were at every live sports event you can think of. More than 500 last year. Now, there's lots of layers to what happens next, as regions try to figure out what the sports season looks like. Jenkins says students should know that a pause on the field doesn't mean a pause in college recruiting. “A lot of these students have academics. A lot of them have game video, but in sports like baseball, soccer, softball, they have skills video and some experience they can share with college coaches,” Jenkins said.California's sports season might be delayed but other states aren't at this point. Which means the push to get ahead and the competition to get to that next level just got more intense. “The power of technology is very powerful and there’s a big technology gap out there. But we’re encouraged by students using their cell phones and filming themselves in their workouts and we cannot minimize the positive power of coaches,” Jenkins added.As for developing players who may or may not have been discovered, Jenkins stresses training and practice.“Not necessarily the type where you have the whole team there, you’re giving them the platform. We have Zoom and Microsoft as opportunities to connect, where coaches are saying this is your workout,” she explained.Colleges are still filling their rosters and NCSA is still getting contacted about athletes. Some are traveling, playing tournaments in other states. And there's a new dynamic out there. All of a sudden, there's time to network. To figure out what school you really want, or perhaps, to work on your SAT score. To get your grades up. To properly fill out that college application.“Can you build relationships with colleges? Absolutely. If there is a delay it's maybe in certain sports that haven’t developed a virtual, but every college coach out there is having to develop more virtually because of the dead period of when college coaches can physically see players play in person has been pushed back for months,” Jenkins said.Some athletes are taking community college courses so they have a leg up for college should they decide to further their athletic career. And Jenkins says, a word of advice for students and families, this is a small time out in your lifetime. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said in a CNBC interview on Wednesday that government-funded coronavirus vaccines would be provided for free or at an affordable cost for the American public.Azar’s declaration comes as the government announced on Wednesday an agreement with Pfizer valued at .95 billion. An agreement stipulates that Pfizer would produce 100 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine for the US government to distribute as soon as one is ready.President Donald Trump added on Wednesday that after an initial 100 million doses are distributed, another 500 million doses would be received by the US government soon thereafter.“Hopefully, the approval process will go very quickly,” Trump said about getting the initial batch of 100 million vaccines. “And we think we have a winner there. We also think we have other companies right behind that are doing very well on the vaccines — long ahead of schedule.”But questions on who would get the vaccine remains a question. But the government vowed Wednesday that vaccines would be affordable."We will ensure that any vaccine that we're involved in sponsoring is either free to the American people or is affordable," Azar said.On Tuesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper that he is encouraged by multiple vaccine candidates, and believes that things are still on track for a vaccine to be ready for production around the end of 2020 or start of 2021.“I think the timetable that we have discussed now over the past several months, luckily and fortunately, has really worked out OK,” Fauci said. “The results of several of the phase one trials of different candidates, not only one -- I'm reluctant to point out one that's going to be better than the other, because the proof of the pudding is whether it actually works in the field and is a safe and effective vaccine.” 1950
