SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police are searching for a gunman who wounded a man in a shooting at a trolley station in the East Village neighborhood.It happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Broadway between 11th Avenue and Park Boulevard, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.The victim, a man in his 30s, was at the trolley station when a gray sedan pulled up and a man in the passenger seat got out, fired one shot and got back in the car, which fled eastbound on Broadway, Buttle said. A car matching the suspect vehicle's description was later located and impounded for evidence.The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his left torso, which was not believed to be life-threatening, the officer said.The suspected gunman was described as a 5-foot-7 Black man, about 140 pounds, wearing blue sweatpants. 839

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego County reported 236 new cases of COVID-19 and five additional deaths Sunday, raising the county's totals to 48,436 cases and 803 fatalities.Four of the 236 new cases are connected to San Diego State University and two previously reported confirmed cases are now associated with SDSU, bringing the total number of cases there to 1,127, according to public health officials.Five men died between Sept. 6 and Sept. 21 and their ages ranged from mid-40s to mid-80s, officials said Sunday. All five had underlying medical conditions.Of the 8,797 tests reported as of Saturday, 3% returned positive, bringing the 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases to 3.1%. The state-set target is less than 8%. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Tuesday were searching for two men who carjacked a 43-year-old man at knifepoint near San Diego Mesa College in the Clairemont area.It happened shortly before 10:50 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of Mesa College Drive, off Linda Vista Road west of state Route 163, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.A 43-year-old man had just parked his car, a blue 2019 Mazda3 sedan with California license plate 7YGF888, when two men walked up to him, Buttle said. One of the men was armed with a knife and placed the knife to the victim's stomach while demanding the car keys.The victim complied and both suspects drove off in the car, which was last seen heading eastbound on Mesa College Drive, Buttle said.
