BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping reiterated on Wednesday that China will adhere to the path of multilateralism and open its door wider to the world.
Philippine Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno said Xi's visit is important because it will not only strengthen diplomatic relations and economic links between the two countries, but also add momentum to the Philippine government's development program.
"As we look back over the four decades of reform and opening-up, we in China are more convinced than ever before that only through reform and opening-up can China develop itself," Xi said.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula. Xi emphasized that since the beginning of this year, the Korean Peninsula situation has undergone positive changes.
For his part, U Set Aung, who also attended the signing ceremony, said the deep-sea port project is an important project in regional connectivity.
