BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- China would continue to adopt the proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy next year and endeavor to improve the economic growth quality, according to the Central Economic Work Conference Monday.     Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao addressed the meeting, which is held once a year to set the tone for economic development during the next year.     It was agreed at the conference that 2010 is the last year in the counry's 11th five-year plan, and to do a good job in the country's economic and social development next year was of great importance to dealing with the impact of the international financial crisis successfully in an all-around way and laying a sound foundation for China's 12th five-year plan. BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin said here Wednesday that China will strengthen political mutual trust, expand substantial cooperation and promote common development with Belarus.     Jia, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, hailed bilateral ties during a meeting with Vladimir Andreichenko, chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus.     He applauded the cooperation with Belarus on politics, economy, culture and international affairs, saying the two countries supported each other on some major issues of common concerns and brought about tangible benefits for the two peoples.     Jia pledged to promote exchanges and cooperation between the CPPCC and Belarussian parliament in a bid to further bilateral ties.     Andreichenko commended China's economic growth and increasingly important role on the international arena, saying that his country and the Belarussian parliament will further cooperation with China.

SHANGHAI, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Visiting U.S. President Barack Obama said here Monday the United States does not seek to contain China's rise and he welcomes China to be a "strong and prosperous and successful member of the community of nations."     Obama made the remarks during a dialogue with Chinese youths in China's economic hub Shanghai.     He said the world is fundamentally interconnected and power in the 21st century is no long a zero-sum game.     "The jobs we do, the prosperity we build, the environment we protect and the security we seek are all shared, " he said. "One country's success does not come at the expense of another."     He arrived in Shanghai late on Sunday and met city officials Monday morning before his meeting with young Chinese.     He will head to Beijing Monday afternoon.

BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States highly value the fruitful scientific and technological results achieved in the past three decades, and agreed to start dialogue on aviation and railway cooperation, said a joint statement issued after talks between Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting U.S. President Barack Obama here on Tuesday.     "The two sides applauded the rich achievements in scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between the two countries over the past 30 years since the signing of the China-U.S. Agreement on Cooperation in Science and Technology," said the statement.     Both sides agreed to further upgrade the level of exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation through the China-U.S. Joint Commission on Science and Technology Cooperation.     The two countries "look forward to expanding discussions on space science cooperation and starting a dialogue on human space flight and space exploration, based on the principles of transparency, reciprocity and mutual benefit," said the statement.     The two sides will exchange visits of the NASA Administrator and the appropriate Chinese counterpart in 2010, it said.     The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation on civil aviation, and to expand the Memorandum of Agreement for Technical Cooperation in the field of Civil Aviation between the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States.     Besides the aviation field, Chinese and U.S. officials also hope the Chinese and U.S. public and private bodies to jointly build high speed railways, said the statement.
