The area has also had low humidity, which also has helped fuel fires.The National Weather Service said on Monday that “if fire ignition occurs, conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread, long range spotting, and extreme fire behavior which would threaten life and property.”A handful of fires have burned in recent days, the largest is the Bond Fire, which originated in Orange County last week. The fire has claimed over 7,300 acres of land, but firefighters have been able to contain 60% of the fire. 766

MLB was supposed to have a full slate of games on Sunday, including a game showcasing superstar Angels pitcher/hitter Shohei Ohtani making his third start as a pitcher. Mother Nature had other ideas. Six MLB gamers were postponed on Sunday due to a major winter storm marching from the Midwest to the Northeast. Games in Cleveland, Minneapolis, Kansas City and Chicago were postponed. Also, a slated day-night doubleheader in Detroit was also wiped. The Cincinnati Reds were slated to get underway at 3:45 p.m. local time, more than 2.5 hours after the scheduled first pitch. Of the MLB cities affected by this weekend's storm, Minneapolis was hit the hardest. NASA has tapped nine astronauts to become the first to launch to space from American soil since the Space Shuttle program was retired in 2011.The seven men and two women will also be the first astronauts to fly in capsules developed and built by the private sector as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.Since 2011, the United States has relied on Russia to ferry astronauts to the space station. SpaceX and Boeing were picked by NASA in 2014 to develop spacecrafts to return that capability to the United States, and both companies are slated to launch their first crewed missions in the next year.
