OCEANSIDE (CNS) - A pedestrian was hit and killed while crossing an Oceanside highway late Saturday night, police said.The crash was reported to police shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of state Route 76 and Douglas Drive, according to Oceanside police Sgt. Rick Davis.Officers found a man lying unresponsive in eastbound lanes of Route 76.Davis said according to witness statements and evidence at the crash scene, investigators believe the pedestrian was crossing Route 76 from north to south against a red light, and was hit by a car heading east on the highway with a green light.The driver, who was not injured, immediately stopped and waited for police to arrive, Davis said. Police did not suspect alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.The name of the victim was not immediately released. 826

OCEAN BEACH (KGTV)- Big waves continue to pound the coast today. A High Surf Advisory is issued until Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Waves reached heights up to eight feet Thursday and along Ocean Beach Pier, some waves reached 10 feet. As we normally see during high surf, advanced surfers made their way to the beaches. In Ocean Beach, crews continued their work to repair the pier despite the high surf below. Waves up to 10 feet crashed into the pier. One Ocean Beach resident tells 10News, "you know we spend all this money to live here and this is one of our facilities, it's sad when its closed". Crews are still on track to reopen the pier by Memorial Day, according to the City of San Diego. 709

OAK PARK, Mich. — The city of Oak Park, Michigan will host its annual Boo Bash Halloween event next Wednesday, but they are not allowing anyone to come as a clown.On the event page, the city says people can bring children in their favorite Halloween costumes, collect candy down the trick-or-treat street and enjoy cider and donuts. They also say that clown costumes are not allowed.Oak Park Recreation Director Laurie Stasiak told the Oakland County Times the ban stems from fear and anxiety over clowns for some children."In the past few years, many clown costumes have been given a very scary and evil look. Many scary and horror movies are centered around these types of characters. About three years [ago] there were national incidents in the news where people were dressing up as clowns and scaring people and in some cases assaulting them," she told the Oakland County?Times. Norwegian Cruise Lines announced they are extending their suspension of all cruises until at least March 2021, as coronavirus cases remain high in the US and around the world.In a statement released Wednesday, Norwegian said all trips departing between January 1 and February 28 as well as “select voyages in March 2021” will be suspended. The suspension also applies to Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises through March 31, 2021.“Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. … today announces an extension of its previously announced suspension of global cruise voyages as the Company continues to work through its return to service plan to meet the requirements of the Framework for Conditional Sailing Order issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,” the statement reads.Norwegian now has the longest suspension of major cruise operators. Carnival and Royal Caribbean announced last month they would suspend voyages through January 2021. Some Carnival voyages are canceled through February.The CDC lifted a no-sail order at the end of October, however a few days later, the Cruise Lines International Association, which represents about 95 percent of cruise operators, issued a statement that they would voluntarily suspend voyages through the end of the year, at least.Then a few days before Thanksgiving, the CDC warned Americans about traveling on cruises and the potential for contracting COVID-19.
