CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) - On Wednesday, Rear Adm. Collin Green sent notice to Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher that his status as a SEAL is under review, according to his lawyer.The process, commonly called a Trident Review, could strip Gallagher of his trident pin and remove him from the SEAL teams, though his rank and paygrade in the Navy would not be changed.“It’s ordinarily a procedure used for a substandard performer or somebody who’s committing safety violations,” said Timothy Parlatore, a civilian attorney for Gallagher.RELATED: Trump restores rank of San Diego Navy SEAL following war crimes caseParlatore said Gallagher is planning on retiring as soon as possible, so the move to strip his trident pin would not have any dramatic effect on his current role.“It has no legitimate value for someone about to retire,” said Parlatore. “It is purely a retaliation. COVID-19 has boosted a number of essential and online businesses to the point where they need to hire hundreds of people. Now, some of these companies are getting creative with hiring during the pandemic."This is about actionality and giving everyone whatever ways that are necessary to them to be able to find work. Our teams have been trying to come up with creative ways to connect people and work," said Carl Schweihs, the president of PeopleManagement at TrueBlue, a national staffing company that helps businesses, big and small.Schweihs says their team decided to try out a drive-thru hiring event. TrueBlue is running the events through its Staff Management |SMX business."We did one of these in April in Pennsylvania, and we saw a lot of success, so we were able to hire about as many people in one day as we had done in a week in the past," said Schweihs.The company saw so much success that True Blue decided to offer the drive-thru service to other clients, as well."We saw a lot of people were interested in it. They weren’t used to necessarily video interviewing and there was a comfort factor in still being close to someone, still being able to ask questions, that just weren’t there on the video side," explained Schweihs.How it works is applicants fill out all of their information ahead of time online. Then, True Blue schedules certain times for people to drive up and interview through their car window. Schweihs says they're able to interview more candidates in less time."Another thing is, we do interviews on all of our jobs and I think it also shows, especially in warehousing and distribution jobs attendance is a big issue, so by people being able to show up to an interview at a scheduled time, it also gives comfort in us and our customers that they're going to show up and be in attendance when they actually do take the job," said Schweihs.Drive-thru hiring is gaining ground across the country. In California, the Tulare County Employment Connection is hosting its first drive-thru event to fill 40 electrical and solar installation positions."I'm a little bit old fashioned. I like the face-to-face, and I know a lot of people do. Just the safety matter of it right now during the pandemic, following safety guidelines, I think it's a very good idea to be able to drive through and make it quick, where there's not very much contact, but at the same time, you're having that face to face with employers," said Monica Andrade, a business resource specialist with Tulare County Employment Connection.Andrade says employers will also have an opportunity to have a more in-depth interview with some candidates by having the candidate pull over and conduct a socially distant interview outside in a separate area. COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — Yanise Ho says with all the negativity going on, she wants to prove that there are good people in the world.She's been on her journey for five months and has already rollerbladed through 15 states just depending on strangers.Ho fixes her wheels as she prepares to rollerblade across Nebraska."Rollerblades become a part of my body, it's not a bicycle, I have to figure out how to lock it up, it's a part of me," said Yanise Ho.Carrying 43 pounds on her back, Ho started in Miami and plans to finish in Portland, Oregon by November, and blade all the way back, making her trip about 6,200 miles."My mission is to show that there are amazing people in the world, every day I have no plans, just faith and the goodness of people," said Ho.Rolling state to state, without knowing where she'll sleep next or when she'll have her next meal."Somehow, I always stumble upon the best people in the world," said Ho.The 23-year-old "bladress" does not accept money just food and a place to sleep.Rollerblading about 700 miles a day, Ho says since she started, each night a stranger has opened up their home for her to rest."Every day I feel like everyone is my family, and this is how the world should be," Ho said.Her greater goal is to raise ,000 to sponsor 130 girls in Kenya and Uganda to go to secondary school."They can contribute to the scholarship that I am raising funds for other girls to be able to go to school and chase their dreams," said Ho.Follow Yanise Ho on her journey by visiting her Facebook page. 1551
CORONADO (KGTV) - Police found a man who went missing from Sacred Heart Church this evening. Vincent Banez, 31-years-old, went missing around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening, according to Coronado Police. He was last seen near the church, located at 655 C Avenue before he was found safely around 8:30 p.m.Police describe him as an Asian male wearing a black sweater, yellow pants and on a red motorized scooter. He needs the scooter to get around, but he is social and able to interact, police said.A helicopter circled Coronado looking for the man and relayed information to residents.This is a developing story. 10News will update as details become available. 690
