I don’t know what the murder rate of my customers is. I don’t know how many are gone for good,” Lapidow said.After initially laying off all his employees, he has been able to rehire most of them. Sales are still down year-to-year, but COVID is giving some in the industry an unexpected boost.Researchers at Augusta University in Georgia have found new evidence that cannabis-derived CBD may help those suffering from severe lung inflammation that occurs in more serious cases of COVID-19.Legally, because it's not FDA approved, Lapidow can't make claims about what his products do. NEW YORK (AP) — A judge has rejected a .5 million proposed bail package for Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend, saying her incarceration is necessary to ensure she faces trial on charges she recruited teenage girls for Epstein to sexually abuse. U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan rejected the proposed bail for Ghislaine Maxwell on Monday. According to The Associated Press, Maxwell and her husband, who has never been publically identified, offered their entire wealth - .5 million - plus millions more of friends and family's assets to secure her bail.But she did not immediately release an opinion explaining her reasoning. Maxwell was arrested in early July. She has remained at a federal lockup in Brooklyn ever since Nathan said there were no bail conditions that would ensure she would not flee. “For substantially the same reasons as the Court determined that detention was warranted in the initial bail hearing, the Court again concludes that no conditions of release can reasonably assure the Defendant’s appearance at future proceedings,” Nathan wrote Monday in the order.Nathan added that the government met its burden of persuasion that Maxwell poses as a flight risk.“In reaching that conclusion, the Court considers the nature and circumstances of the offenses charged, the weight of the evidence against the Defendant, the history and characteristics of the Defendant, and the nature and seriousness of the danger that the Defendant’s release would pose,” Nathan added.Epstein killed himself in August 2019 at a Manhattan federal jail as he awaited a sex trafficking trial. 1607

North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp is facing the very real possibility that she may have to say good bye to the seat she's held for the past six years.Heitkamp is a moderate Democrat, who touts her ability to make tough choices and not always voting based on politics. One of the hardest moments for her was voting "no" to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh."I think that a lot of people wrote the political obituary after that vote, and it may in fact be that," says Heitkamp.Voting against Trump was also a risky move, in a state that voted for the president by a 36-point margin.When asked if that factored into her decision at all, Heitkamp replied, “No, because when you’re making this decision, especially on a Supreme Court justice, there’s no do-overs.”In recent polls, Heitkamp trailed her opponent, Congressman Kevin Cramer, by double digits.Having someone always stand with Trump seems to be what some voters in North Dakota are looking for.“She voted ‘no’ on Kavanaugh; that was a big deal to me,” says one voter.But there were plenty who would say the opposite.“I really admired her for doing what was right in her heart, rather than what she was pressured to do,” says another voter. “So, I admire her independence on that.”Heitkamp hopes that come Tuesday she'll beat the odds and be elected to serve another term. 1346

Nevada Highway Patrol has found the driver who hit one of their patrol cars on Monday.It happened around 5:03 p.m. local time Monday. A trooper was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 95 northbound near Summerlin Parkway. Both vehicles were stopped on the right shoulder when another vehicle disregarded the Move Over Law and hit the trooper's vehicle.The collision resulted in the door being almost torn off. The driver of the other vehicle kept going.After the hit-and-run driver was found Tuesday, the person was ticketed but not arrested. She was issued citations for driving without a valid license, hit-and-run property damage and failure to stop and render aid, all misdemeanors.Fortunately, the trooper was not injured.NHP released body-camera video of the incident.  801
