PEORIA, Ill. — Bradley University in central Illinois is requiring its entire student body to quarantine for two weeks because of clusters of COVID-19 on campus and is reverting to remote learning, officials announced Tuesday.Officials of the private university said they have linked a spike of the coronavirus to off-campus gatherings. The Peoria university is requiring students to limit nonessential interactions, stay in their off-campus apartments, residence halls and take classes remotely beginning Tuesday. The university said it has tallied about 50 COVID-19 cases so far, adding emergency measures are needed to respond to the outbreak without disrupting academic progress.“Although it may seem extreme, this move to temporary remote learning and a two-week, all-student quarantine allows us to focus on the continuity of the educational experience for all of our students while giving us time to gather data on the full extent of the spread of the virus and assess the best way to proceed as a community,” Bradley President Stephen Standifird said in a message to students. While about 4,600 undergraduates were enrolled at Bradley last year, it wasn’t immediately known how many are enrolled this fall. 1220

Perhaps making up for lost time after going five years since her last starring role, Drew Barrymore pulls double duty in "The Stand-In." The comedy is a "The Prince and the Pauper" knockoff that isn't worthy of a single Barrymore performance, let alone two. While Barrymore shows off some range in exploring the two characters, the script doesn't provide enough material for either of them to stand out.She plays both fallen comedy star Candy Black and her meek stand-in, Paula. Once a judge sentences Candy to rehab, she and Paula work out a switcheroo deal that spares Candy the inconvenience of alcoholism recovery while giving Paula a break from her dreary life. You can usually tell whether or not a comedy has a shot at working in the first 15 minutes, when there are no concerns for setting up the story and the characters are free to romp without a care of advancing the tale. "The Stand-In" gets stuck in the mud early on, focusing on its bizarre setup. Candy comes off as an intolerable diva, while Paula is a helpless pushover. Neither is all that appealing. At least it's got Barrymore going for it. Bursting with personality while showing off the vulnerability that she's had full command of ever since she was a tyke in "E.T." she retains the star charisma that shot her up the ranks of the Hollywood elite. Since roles in the vein of "The Wedding Singer" and "Never Been Kissed" are no longer coming along, it's refreshing to see her reinvent herself as a Melissa McCarthy-style comedic force of nature.Director Jamie Babbit manages to squeeze a few laughs out of her capable ensemble cast, which includes Ellie Kemper and T.J. Miller, but the lazy story takes way too long to push forward, and any potential emotional impact falls by the wayside as the dull plot plods its way to its conclusion. The central message in most movies like this is that the grass isn't greener on the other side. But if you find yourself stuck in the theater watching "The Stand-In," you'll be envious of those who chose a better way to spend their 101 minutes.RATING: 2 stars out of 4.This review is by Phil Villarreal and was originally published on KGUN9.com. People all across San Diego are breaking the law to ease parking problems in congested neighborhoods. They're either painting over red curbs to add spaces, or they're adding red paint to the curbs near their driveways to keep people from blocking them in.Either way, it's illegal and the city deals with hundreds of complaints each year on its Get it Done website and app. City officials say it's most common in neighborhoods like Hillcrest, Pacific Beach and North Park, where the population is dense, and parking spots are at a premium.San Diego Municipal Code 82.14 says "No person shall paint or otherwise mark any curb, sidewalk or street surface without first complying with the requirements of this code." Although city officials say it's tough to enforce because it's hard to prove who painted the curb. The San Diego Police Department wasn't able to provide 10News with details on what the penalties could be.An SDPD Spokesman did say anyone who gets a ticket for parking in a red zone that may be illegal can appeal the citation here.In 2017, the city dealt with 222 reports of illegally painted curbs on the Get it Done website. They try to respond to all of them. Already in 2018, there have been more than a dozen. Aside from the Get it Done feature, you can report illegally painted curbs directly to the city's Transportation Engineering Office at 619-533-3126.  1410

People are taking a lot more road trips because their traditional travel plans have been canceled due to COVID-19.Many are renting RVs for the first time. RV rental website Outdoorsy said in May and June, 93% of their bookings were first timers.“The first thing I would say is don’t worry, you know a lot of the worry is up in your head, because these recreational vehicles looking larger and scary and intimidating to drive," said Jennifer Young, co-found and CMO of Outdoorsy.Young says owners renting on the website are willing to walk an RV newbie through the entire process. If you don't want to drive one, they can come to you and set it up.Insurance is covered for everyone when you rent online.First time renters should really focus on researching where they want to stay.“There are thousands and thousands of private RV parks, national parks, state level parks and BLM lands, free camping space available,” said Young.Depending on where you stay, there may be a fee. In terms of pricing, the average RV rental on Outdoorsy is around 1 per night. You usually only drive on the first and last day, so you're not spending a ton on gas. You can pack food to keep costs down. And to no surprise, those surveyed by Outdoorsy said they felt less stressed and the kids were happier on a road trip.“Spending time outside quite literally is the antithesis of being cooped up,” said Young. “Most of the time you spend when you're traveling is on the hikes exploring new places, checking out a river or a stream, going to a nearby town and just hanging out for the day.”Another popular option now is car camping, essentially packing up a smaller rented vehicle or your own car and sleeping outside. Borrowing or renting camping gear is another way to trim costs. 1768

Parts of Hawaii are under a hurricane watch as Category 3 Hurricane Douglas has its sights set on the island state. The hurricane watch is in effect for the Big Island and Maui County.Packing top winds of 115 MPH as of 11 a.m. HT (5 p.m. ET), Douglas is moving toward Hawaii at 18 MPH. The storm was positioned 785 miles from Hilo, or 985 miles from Honolulu.Douglas is relatively small, with hurricane-force winds only extending 25 miles from the center. While the powerful hurricane is in the open ocean, it has been slowly losing strength. The National Hurricane Center projects it will weaken into a tropical storm by Sunday night. But the storm could still be a hurricane when it crosses the island chain, which would make it the first hurricane to directly hit the island in more than two decades.Category 4 Iniki of 1992. was the most recent hurricane to strike Hawaii directly. Before that, just two other hurricanes have directly hit the islands since the late 1800s.Meanwhile, parts of the Texas coast is under a tropical storm warning ahead of Hanna, which is expected to come ashore tomorrow. 1111
