CORONADO (KGTV) - Police found a man who went missing from Sacred Heart Church this evening. Vincent Banez, 31-years-old, went missing around 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening, according to Coronado Police. He was last seen near the church, located at 655 C Avenue before he was found safely around 8:30 p.m.Police describe him as an Asian male wearing a black sweater, yellow pants and on a red motorized scooter. He needs the scooter to get around, but he is social and able to interact, police said.A helicopter circled Coronado looking for the man and relayed information to residents.This is a developing story. 10News will update as details become available. 690

Community colleges have always put career readiness at the forefront of the courses they offer. Now, in the current economic downturn, they're hoping to increase their student to job pipeline."We really feel like our role is to identify what jobs are available right now for students that they can apply and be working while going to school. What are the future jobs that we need to be preparing students for?" asked Dr. Shanna Jackson, the President of Nashville State Community College in Tennessee. Dr. Jackson says students are battling so much right now, including choosing between having to work and going to school.Dr. Jackson is hoping an million investment in the company Handshake, to help expand job recruitment to community colleges, will help."We actually already have 70 community colleges that have already signed on to be early pilot partners with us so we're really learning from them. We’re listening to them. We’ve started an advisory group with this population so that we can continue to ascertain what are the biggest pain points. What are their biggest areas of need for these students," said Christine Cruzvergara, Handshake's VP of Higher Education and Student Success.Handshake helps connect students with employers through career fairs, job postings and other services, and previously only worked with four-year universities. Cruzvergara says they're working with state systems throughout the country to connect with technical and community colleges."It'll be a really similar experience. It’ll all be part of one network and that's actually why it's a huge benefit to community colleges. We know for some of our biggest employers that they want to recruit 2-year talent. They don't see 2-year talent as different from 4-year talent for internships and jobs, they simply have a number of different types of roles and positions that are available to all types of students," said Cruzvergara. The partnership hopes to bring new recruitment benefits to students."The tools that something like this provides really enhances their opportunity to cast a wider net and then they can decide which job offer they want to say yes to instead of maybe taking the first one they hear about," said Dr. Jackson. COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — A judge has put on hold a U.S. plan to quarantine up to 50 people infected with a new virus from China in a Southern California city. Costa Mesa officials asked for a court to intervene Friday after learning that federal authorities planned to move patients to facility in the city as early as Sunday. They said they were not included in the planning effort and wanted to know how the local community would be protected from the possible spread of the virus that has spread globally. The judge has issued a temporary restraining order and has scheduled a hearing for Monday. 609

Cleveland Police say a 16-year-old boy wound up in the ICU at Metro Health because his dad forced him to confront a bully.Police put a warrant out for 36-year-old Carlos Conner, wanted on a felony child endangerment charge.According to a police report, last week Conner forced his 16-year-old son to fight his bully on the street.“My nephew seen the guy who’s been bullying him for a year and a half and he jumped out the car,” said Conner’s sister, Cynthia Conner.Conner says the police report doesn't tell the whole story and that her nephew took it upon himself to fight the other teenager. Both are students at James Rhodes High School.“I think he did the parental, smart thing, let them fight and said ok, after the fight was over, said ok, the fight was over, took his child and took him to the hospital,” she said.Except, when the 16 year old arrived at the hospital, police say it was discovered he had bleeding in his brain and was taken to the intensive care unit.The bullying, according to Conner, started on social media. Her brother, she says, made numerous attempts to stop it, but the problem was never solved.“This has been going on for a year and half, you don’t think my brother could’ve forced him to get out the car a year and a half ago? Here, here he is, I’m going to bring you right to him, fight him. My brother’s not a bad guy,” she said.Conner claims this was in fact a dispute between her brother and his ex-wife who filed the police report.According to the police report, detectives did not get a statement from the 16 year old and have not yet identified the other teen involved. 1616

COLLEGE EAST (CNS) - A 19-year-old man who was trying to sell one vehicle in the College East neighborhood ended up having another one stolen.The victim was trying to show a car, in the 5100 block of East Falls View Drive, to two men and a female suspect around 4 p.m. Saturday, but it wouldn't start.So he got his red 2007 Honda Civic, in order to give the for-sale car a boost.He left the keys in the Civic, and one of the supposed prospective buyers jumped into the driver's seat and started pulling away.The teenage victim tried to prevent the theft-in-progress by standing in front of his Honda.``The suspect pointed a black gun at the victim causing him to move out of the way and let the suspect take the car,'' Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department said.The female suspect followed the Civic in a gray BMW, Heims said.
