NEW YORK (AP) — The Rolling Stones are postponing their latest tour so Mick Jagger can receive medical treatment.The band announced Saturday that Jagger was told by doctors "he cannot go on tour at this time." The band added that Jagger "is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible."No more details about 75-year-old Jagger's condition were provided.The Stones' No Filter Tour was expected to start April 20 in Miami. NEW YORK (AP) — The operator of Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday, the latest retailer to do so during the pandemic. Ascena Retail Group, which operates nearly 3,000 stores mostly at malls, has been dragged down by debt and weak sales for years. In a press release, the company said they were closing all of their plus-size stores Catherines.The company also said in the release that they plan to "strategically reduce its footprint with the closing of a significant number of Justice stores and a select number of Ann Taylor, LOFT, Lane Bryant, and Lou & Grey stores."It joins other retailers that have filed for bankruptcy in recent weeks, including Brooks Brothers, Neiman Marcus, J.C. Penney, and J. Crew. These retailers were already struggling with poor sales, but the forced closure of stores in March to reduce the spread of the coronavirus put them further in peril. NEW YORK (AP) — A judge has denied President Donald Trump's request that the United States replace him as the defendant in a defamation lawsuit that alleges that he raped a woman in a Manhattan luxury department store in the 1990s.The decision Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan came after the Justice Department argued that the U.S. and by extension American taxpayers should replace Trump as the defendant in the lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll.The judge ruled that Trump's public denials of the rape allegation came outside the scope of his employment as president.The Washington Post obtained Kaplan’s 59-page ruling, which said Trump didn’t qualify as a federal “employee” and that he wasn’t acting “within the scope of his employment” when he denied Carroll’s rape allegation during 2019 interviews.During those interviews, Trump claimed Carroll was “totally lying” to sell a book and denied ever meeting her, though they were photographed together in the late 1980s.Carroll’s lawsuit claims the president harmed her reputation when he denied the allegation and branded her a liar, The New York Times reports. 1136
NEW YORK -- Lori Gaeta gets a cup of coffee every day at a cafe on Lexington Avenue in New York City.Last week, she got a cup coffee and started a conversation with a homeless man that changed both of their lives.Gaeta says she met the homeless man, named William, on 61st Street. It was a conservation she couldn't get out of her mind.“He was paralyzed in a broken down wheelchair. I just felt he could use a blessing,” said Gaeta.All she knew about him is he is 61 years old and his name is William, he became paralyzed and is now homeless.She noticed his wheelchair was being held together with duct tape and was falling apart. She asked him if it was alright for her to get him a new chair.Gaeta sprung into action and started an online quest asking for help posting on a site called Nextdoor. Generous New Yorkers immediately came forward offering used chairs.Then a total stranger, named Elizabeth Menegan, offered to buy William a new chair, spending over 0.“You know that saying it takes a village to raise a child? Well, this took an entire neighborhood to bless this man. North Korea has been sending supplies to Syria that could be used to produce chemical weapons, a United Nations Security Council diplomat has told CNN.Speaking on condition of anonymity, the diplomat said that North Korea had sent acid-resistant tiles, valves and thermometers to Syria.
