SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego's Old Globe Theatre will present its 15th annual Globe Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony virtually on its website and social media channels at 6 p.m. tonight to kick off the holiday season.The ceremony will feature songs, videos, and special hellos from some of the theater's favorite company members from the past 22 years, James Vasquez, director of the theater's production of ``"Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas." The Grinch himself will present the final countdown to the lighting of the tree.Designed by Grinch scenic designer John Lee Beatty, the tree will be located in the center of the Globe's Copley Plaza and will remain through December 31. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego City Council today unanimously approved a 20-year lease that will pave the way for a museum and community center at a city-owned property adjacent to Chicano Park.The Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center has for several decades sought to move into the 9,890-square-feet building at 1960 National Ave., which formerly housed an adult education campus.The vacant property will allow the 48-year-old nonprofit to expand services, programs and exhibitions related to the art, history and sciences of the Americas, with an emphasis on U.S.-Mexico border region cultures.Chicano Park has gotten new playground equipment and bathrooms in recent years, "but there was always something missing. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Police Saturday were asking for the public's help in locating an elderly woman who went missing from her son's Mira Mesa home.Martha Carrington, 83, was seen leaving her son's apartment in Casa Mira View, east of Westview Parkway and north of Mira Mesa Boulevard, between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday, San Diego police said.Carrington suffers from schizophrenia, high blood pressure and the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, officers said.Her family doesn't believe she took any money with her, and she has no cell phone.Carrington was described as black and about 5-feet-8-inches tall. She was last seen in blue pajamas, but it's possible she changed clothes before leaving, police said.Officers asked anyone with information on the incident to call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000. 839

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol is today investigating a fatal freeway crash in San Diego, authorities said.As of 3:35 a.m., multiple CHP units were still at the scene of the traffic collision in San Diego that shut down the five right lanes of the westbound Mission Valley (8) Freeway east of Mission Gorge Road and Fairmount Ave, according to a CHP dispatcher.At least one person has died, she said.
