SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The University of San Diego has the best university in the state for business, management and marketing degrees according to rankings released today by college decision-making website College Factual.USD's business, management and marketing department topped UC Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of San Francisco and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo among California schools. College Factual deemed USD's School of Business the eighth-best in the country as well."These rankings highlight the outstanding learning environment including small classes, cutting-edge curriculum and opportunities for international study that position our undergraduates for success in the business world," said Stephen Conroy, the School of Business' associate dean for undergraduate business programs.College Factual ranked the schools based on students' post-graduation earnings, the schools' accreditation and the number of students at each school majoring in a program related to business, management or marketing. USD is the highest-ranked school west of Texas on the list.Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., is the top undergraduate business program in the country. 1191

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 13-year old girl, waiting for her mother to pick her up in Grant Hill, was attacked by a knife-wielding man Friday afternoon.San Diego Police are now using surveillance videos in their search for the suspect, who yanked a gold necklace from the teen's neck before making his getaway near the intersection of 26th and K Street.The girl wasn't hurt, but parents like Elizabeth Alvarado, whose twin 12-year-old daughters walk by that same spot each day, are hoping he doesn't strike again.Alvarado saw surveillance video after the principal of her daughters' school sent parents a link, suggesting they talk to their kids about staying safe.Andy Trakas of Albert Einstein Charter Middle School said the girl who was attacked wasn't one of his students, but there are several other schools in the neighborhood."We decided to be very, very proactive because the safety of our students," said Trakas, adding that all children in the community are a concern."These things can happen anywhere," Trakas said. "They can happen in La Jolla, they can happen in City Heights, they can happen in Del Sur or La Mesa, whatever, but, by being part of the community we can all work together to make sure that our eyes and ears are open so we can find out who this person is and make this place a better, safer community for our kids."Trakas suggested parents talk to their kids about being aware of their surroundings and the importance of staying in groups, not alone, after school. San Diego Police stepped up patrols in Grant Hill after school and are following every lead to catch the thief.The suspect is describe as a black male five feet, eight inches tall with a stocky build who was wearing a plain black hooded sweatshirt, a black cloth covering the lower portion of his face and dark-colored pants. Authorities say the suspect was driving a white Hyundai Elantra  (pictured below.) 1919

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two San Diego County schools will receive grant funding from the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, it was announced Friday.The foundation, launched in 2006 by NASCAR driver and El Cajon-native Jimmie Johnson and his wife, Chandra Johnson, plans to award 8,000 in grants to seven public schools in the Johnsons' home states of California and Oklahoma and where they currently live in North Carolina.San Diego's Knox Middle School will receive ,206.37 to improve the school's library and WD Hall Elementary School in El Cajon will receive ,096.71 to add a multi-lingual, digital marquee to the school's campus. More than 0,000 will be spread across the other five schools receiving grants."Schools have so many, wide-ranging needs," Jimmie Johnson said. "We were very impressed by this year's applications, and we're thrilled to be able to support these important projects through the Champions Grant program."The foundation has awarded more than .6 million in funding since the grant program launched in 2009. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver lost control of their vehicle Tuesday night, crashing into a power pole while trying to avoid other cars Tuesday night.The crash, which happened around 8 p.m., caused an explosion and sent power lines arching. Several nearby bushes caught fire because of the explosion but firefighters were able to put them out quickly.The incident happened near South 43rd and Division Streets.   428

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A big rig tipped over in North County Tuesday afternoon, spilling debris onto the road and forcing a hazmat team into action. According to authorities, the truck tipped over near eastbound SR-78 at Vista Village Drive just before noon. The incident caused house demolition debris and diesel from the big rig to spill all over the road. In total, about 30 gallons of diesel spilled onto the road. Crews used dirt and kitten litter to clean up the fuel. Firefighters, CHP, deputies and hazmat crews all responded to the scene. The incident caused the hours-long closure of the Vista Village overpass. At this time, it's unclear what caused the truck to tip over. The driver was uninjured.  750
