She not only has a full course load but also cares for her younger sister.‘’I’m working 20 hours a week, trying to support a child, trying to go to school, trying to pay bills, trying to make rent on time,” said Posadas.The challenges do not end there. Posadas is undocumented, and because of this, she cannot apply for public assistance. MALIBU (CNS) - More Malibu residents forced to flee the Woolsey Fire were back home today, in time to face a rain forecast for Wednesday that raises fears of possible mudslides as the estimated date for full containment of the fire was moved back to Thursday.Since erupting Nov. 8 in Ventura County and quickly spreading into Los Angeles County, the fire has charred 96,949 acres and was 94 percent contained by Monday morning, up from 91 percent earlier in the day.Full containment had been projected to occur Sunday, but that estimate was initially pushed back to Monday and then to Thursday.RELATED: Frantic search goes on for missing after Camp FireThe number of structures destroyed across the two counties has been raised to 1,500, with 341 damaged. About 95 percent of the burn area assessment has been completed. Nearly 1,100 firefighters remained in the battle, including nine hand crews, patrolling the burned area in search of hot spots to put out, fire officials said.Seven helicopters and eight bulldozers were in use. The death toll stands at three civilians, and three firefighters have been injured. He hopes for more opportunities, like a job and education in the U.S.Alfonso Rosales saw the migrants as he came over the border, saying in Spanish, they were excited and happy, cheering that they've reached their goal.Several immigrants told 10 News in Mexico they were scared, afraid what the process would entail and of being turned away.One father, Pedro Ismael Varela, said he's worried about being separated from his young son.At the border agents stopped the caravan saying they were at capacity. Members of the group say there's about 20 people waiting at the door for their turn, and the rest of the group waiting in Mexico.The port of entry is a 24 hour operation, and will be open overnight to process people wanting to come through the border."A lot of them get detained, some of them not, that’s the next step, it’s case by case," Alor Calderon, Director of Employer Rights Center said. He added that his role at the border was an "observer" to ensure the migrants are being processed fairly and appropriately.He said those in the caravan understand they could end up in a detention facility, and they're okay with it, "Yes because they’re they’re escaping what they feel is death and escaping what they think is a life without possibilities." 1728

Michigan's Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, announced Friday a ban on the open carry of firearms on Election Day in polling places, clerk's offices and and absent voter counting boards.Local law enforcement agencies will enforce the ban statewide.“Fair, free and secure elections are the foundation of our democracy,” Benson said in a press release. “I am committed to ensuring all eligible Michigan citizens can freely exercise their fundamental right to vote without fear of threats, intimidation or harassment. Prohibiting the open carry of firearms in areas where citizens cast their ballots is necessary to ensure every voter is protected.”Secretary Benson issued the directive to all clerks stating that, “The presence of firearms at the polling place, clerk’s office(s), or absent voter counting board may cause disruption, fear, or intimidation for voters, election workers, and others present."Benson directed, “[t]he open carry of a firearm is prohibited in a polling place, in any hallway used by voters to enter or exit, or within 100 feet of any entrance to a building in which a polling place is located.”Attorney General Dana Nessel said, “Michigan voters have the right to vote in person on Election Day free from threat and intimidation. An armed presence at the polls is inconsistent with our notion of a free democracy.
