THE BRONX — Police say a man working on a transformer has been killed near an Amtrak rail line in in the Bronx Thursday morning, authorities said.Authorities were called to the scene after 11 a.m.MTA officials said the incident occurred at an Amtrak facility. The facility is located nearby a Con Edison Van Nest substation.FDNY officials confirmed one person was dead and two others sustained minor injuries. The families of Ahmaud Arbery, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor will deliver a joint press conference on Friday, calling for new laws that they say would increase police accountability.According to a press release, the families will call for "a congressional hearing and a national task force geared at crafting new bipartisan legislation centered on ending racial violence and increasing police accountability."Watch the press conference in the player below.Arbery, Floyd and Taylor have all died at the hands of police or former police officers since February. The Democratic National Committee plans to meet with 2020 campaigns next week to hand out an "affirmation form" for candidates to sign and certify they will run and serve as members of the Democratic Party, a DNC official said Tuesday.The announcement follows Bernie Sanders' entry into the 2020 campaign earlier Tuesday — his second consecutive presidential election. An independent who caucuses with Democrats in the Senate, Sanders rankled some Democrats in 2016 when he ran for the nomination even though he wasn't an official member of the party.DNC members passed a new rule last August, which was seen as a response to the Sanders campaign, requiring all candidates "to affirm in writing" that they "are a member of the Democratic Party, will accept the Democratic nomination; will run and serve as a member of the Democratic Party."According to the DNC, all the campaigns who have announced have been invited to the meeting.
