SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diegans posted images and updates about the fierce Valley Fire burning out of control in the Japatul Valley on Saturday night.Photos and videos shot from various locations around San Diego show a large ominous plume of smoke over the county. Others show videos of flames near the scene of the fire, and at least one local resident miles away from the fire documented ash falling from the sky.As of late Saturday night, fire officials said the blaze has scorched about 1,500 acres. Crews continue to battle the fire under harsh conditions, including strong winds and high heat. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for a man who reportedly tried to stop a woman from leaving a locker room at a clinical training facility.According to police, the man entered the women’s locker room at the UCSD Clinical Training Facility around 11:15 a.m. on August 20.Police say the man walked in as the victim was using the restroom. The woman tried to leave, but the suspect blocked her, asking “don’t you want this,” gesturing to his body, police say.The man then left the bathroom before walking back inside and blocking the victim’s exit once again. Police say the suspect blocked the woman from exiting the restroom a total of four times.The suspect is described as a white man, approximately six feet tall with a thin build, unshaven, with short, dark hair and a gray patch near his right temple.The man also has a tribal tattoo that circles his right arm as well as various tattoos on his left arm.Anyone with information is asked to call the SDPD Western Division at 619-692-4800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1051

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego drivers will have more opportunities to take care of driver’s license renewals and vehicle-related needs thanks to longer hours at California Department of Motor Vehicles offices. Starting Monday, 69 offices will be open for customers at 7 a.m., four days a week. On Wednesdays, the offices will open at 9 a.m. The DMV is offering extended service due to the high demand for Real ID compliant drivers licenses.The early hours will be available in San Diego County at the following DMV locations: El CajonOceansidePowaySan Diego (Hillcrest)San Diego (Clairemont)San Ysidro The Chula Vista DMV office has had extended hours since last summer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police and National City firefighters used “scare tactics” this Halloween with elaborate haunted stations, touted as safer alternatives to traditional trick-or-treating on dark streets.The Southeastern Division police station building on Skyline Drive was transformed into a walk-though “haunted station," with room after room of zombies, creepy clowns and ghouls, some played by department employees in costume.“It’s all in good fun, for the kids to save a safe place to go, to get a little scared but in a safe environment,” San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman said before she took a tour of the haunts.Joseph Lemon, Jr. does not let his 11-year-old daughter Ananda do traditional trick-or-treating.“It’s not as safe as it used to be, and you have to go and x-ray the candy and all of that," Lemon, Jr. said. "Now many of the churches and the police department put on events like this that are safer.”  They also had candy and entertainment in the parking lot. Zimmerman said about 500 families tour the haunted station each year.In National City, the training tower at Fire Station #34 on East 16th Street became “Tower of Terror” for the tenth year in a row.Hundreds of people lined up throughout the night to walk through the maze of haunted rooms and be scared by ghouls, played by students from Sweetwater High School and firefighters.They also had candy, a costume contest, a bounce house and less-scary games for the little ones.National City Police say just after 8:30 p.m. several juvenile males threw eggs at the event.No one was hit and there was no damage to any property.
