An Arizona Coyotes hockey player was arrested in Scottsdale. Scottsdale police said 27-year-old Richard Panik was arrested for trespassing. The hockey player reportedly refused to leave the entrance of a local restaurant on April 8 at 8:50 p.m. According to police, Panik appeared to be intoxicated during his contact with officers. Panik was booked into Scottsdale City Jail for criminal trespass and later released with a criminal citation. The 27-year-old played 37 games during the 2017-2018 season with the Chicago Blackhawks before being traded to the Arizona Coyotes. He played 35 games with Arizona. The Arizona Coyotes released the following statement to Scripps station KNXV in Phoenix:“We are aware of the incident and are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation.  We will have no further comment at the present time.”   914

American Airlines says it is suspending travel to 15 small cities across the country for at least a month as COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc on the airline travel industry.In a press release, American said it was suspending service to certain smaller markets as airline stimulus aid provided by the CARES Act is set to expire.American says the suspended travel is only effective between Oct. 7 and Nov. 3, but offered no guarantees that it would restore service to the cities afterward.Since the COVID-19 pandemic reached the United States, demand for air travel has plummeted. The Associated Press reported earlier this week that air travel is down more than 85% between 2019 and 2020. An advisory committee is recommending Americans age 75 and older, along with essential workers like firefighters, teachers, and grocery store workers should be next in line for the COVID-19 vaccine.This second wave of people comes after the first tier of health care workers and long-term care facility residents that was agreed to by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices earlier this month should get the first of the vaccine shots that started last week.The committee, composed of health experts in the field of immunization, makes recommendations to the CDC, and they are almost always adopted.They voted Sunday afternoon on the recommendation, it was 13-to-1. They also discussed the next tier, which could include Americans age 65-to-75, as well as those who are age 16-to-64 who have high-risk medical conditions, and other essential workers not already vaccinated, according to CNN. It comes as a second COVID-19 vaccine, made by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health, begins being shipped around the country for approved emergency use and a second week of shipments arrive of the Pfizer vaccine.The CDC says roughly 556,000 Americans received the first dose of the vaccine last week. The Pfizer vaccine started being given on Monday, December 14.The general overseeing the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines says they are on track to deliver about 20 million doses before the end of the year. Each person must receive 2 doses of the vaccine for full effect, which has been shown in both vaccines to be higher than 90% effective.As for when the second tier of frontline workers and those age 75 and older will receive their vaccines is up to state governors depending on their vaccination plans and distribution of the vaccine. ANDERSON, Ind. — A convicted killer already serving two life sentences without parole and accused of killing a fellow prisoner last summer told a Madison County judge this week he will keep killing people until he's given the death penalty.Tommy Holland, 45, made the statement Tuesday during a hearing in Madison Circuit Court. Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings said Holland had been expected to plead guilty to the Aug. 9, 2019 stabbing death of Clifford Bagget, 28. In exchange for the plea, Holland was expected to receive his third life sentence, Cummings said.The stabbing happened inside the Pendleton Correctional Facility. Holland was serving two life sentences for murder out of Marion County. Bagget, of Florida, was serving time for aggravated battery, battery, and possession of methamphetamine, according to court records.Instead, the scene inside the Madison County courtroom was much different."His lawyer said [Holland] wanted to make a statement and that it was coming against the advice of counsel," Cummings said. "What he basically said was, if you don't give me the death penalty I'm going to keep killing people until you give it to me."The hearing did not proceed with the entering of a guilty plea. Instead, the judge ordered Holland to undergo a competency evaluation.Cummings said he will consider the unusual request but there are other factors under consideration as well."I don't want to waste taxpayer money," Cummings said.In addition, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago has not upheld a death penalty sentence brought to them on appeal in 11 years so the likelihood of a sentence of death being carried out against Holland is slim, Cummings said.Holland is currently being housed in segregation at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Cummings said.
