(KGTV) -- Some parents are upset after a document from the Cajon Valley Union School District was accidentally shared.Cajon Valley Union School District Superintendent David Miyashiro said an employee’s notes taken during a weekend planning summit -- which included the teachers union, school board members, and district management -- were inadvertently released.Under one of the sections in the notes is language describing parents as “stay at home mom, do not want to teach their kids,” as well as references to some parents being “right-wing” and “not all believe this is real and believe it will be finished by August.”Several parents obtained the document and were upset with how they were described. Demanding answers, some parents showed up at a closed-door district meeting on Tuesday evening where reopening plans were being discussed.Miyashiro sent 10News this statement on the matter: “I've both apologized to the parent community on our behalf and also addressed this with the employee. They weren't meant for public view but there's no excuse ... we don't speak about anyone that way.”Parents who spoke to 10News about the notes said they want something to come out of this situation, whether it’s training or education for staff members."The trust has been lost; the trust between parents and the school district. Trust between parents and superintendent, trust between parents and the board, I think. Dramatic moments in a San Bernardino courtroom today as a prosecutor slammed a sledgehammer onto a table. He was simulating what he says is how a Fallbrook family of four was murdered in 2010. Charles Merritt is accused of killing his business partner, Joseph McStay, his wife Summer and their two young sons Giani and Joe Jr. The prosecution says Merritt was being sidelined from the business and owed thousands of dollars to McStay. The defense countered in their closing arguments that the prosecution focused on trying Merritt’s character and not the actual facts of the murder. The defense told jurors the circumstantial case produced no evidence tying their client to the family’s violent deaths. The prosecution told jurors they didn’t have to prove how, where or when the murders took place, only that Merritt committed them. The McStays disappeared from their Fallbrook home in early February 2010. Days after they were last seen, the family’s SUV was found abandoned at a strip mall parking lot in San Ysidro.In 2013, the bodies of the family members were found in the Mojave Desert, near Victorville. Prosecutors said the family died from blunt-force trauma to their heads. Authorities found a sledgehammer, believed to be the murder weapon, in one of the graves.Merritt was arrested in connection with the killings in November 2014 after sufficient evidence linking him to the case, including DNA, was discovered.Authorities alleged Merritt killed the family members inside their home and then buried them in the desert. Merritt also tried to paint over the crime scene, according to authorities.Merritt, 61, has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and is being held without bail.Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case. 1758

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top expert on infectious diseases, said Tuesday that he believes that it's "unlikely" that a viable COVID-19 vaccine will be available before the Nov. 3 general election.Fauci's comments contradict those of President Donald Trump, who implied Monday that a vaccine could be ready by October.During a health forum with Research!America, Fauci said that while it's not impossible for a vaccine to be safely granted Emergency Use Authorization within the next two months, he doesn't think one will be made available until the end of the year.Fauci noted that there are three vaccine candidates currently in the midst of the final phase of testing. Two of those candidates — vaccines made by Moderna and Pfizer — both became the first vaccines to begin Phase 3 testing on July 27.Fauci also noted that both trials are about two-thirds of the way enrolled, and expects those trials to be completely filled by the end of the month. On Christmas eve, two El Cajon police officers didn’t hesitate to buy dinner for a family living in their car. While always ready to respond to calls, officers never know exactly what they'll find. On this Christmas Eve call, they found a woman named Juanita and her two children, living in their car. Detective Travis Howard is President of the El Cajon Police Officers Association. He says the officers bought the family dinner at Jack in the Box and then closed the call. But after their shift, they wanted to do more, dipping in their own pockets to get the family a hotel room for two nights so they wouldn't be homeless on Christmas. The two police officers who first helped the family didn’t do it for the praise and asked to remain anonymous. 859
