That suspect is believed to be Travis Reinking, the man accused of Sunday's Waffle House shooting. Reinking remains at large, and authorities are offering a reward for information leading to his capture. After a brief chase, the car was recovered in a neighborhood, located near Reinking’s apartment.No one was ever arrested, but now Reinking has emerged as the prime suspect in the case.There is surveillance video of both the theft from the dealership and the chase. Investigators made the connection after seeing photos of Reinking after Sunday’s shooting.Brentwood Police officials confirmed there was an auto theft and brief chase.They also now are in close contact with Nashville police and law enforcement agencies – FBI, TBI and ATF – who are investigating the mass shooting.It’s possible video of the car theft suspect and more details will be released later today.   1402

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man was arrested on battery and hate crime charges Thursday after he punched a man who recently arrived from Afghanistan and threatened to kill his family.San Diego Police said Robert Compton, 48, was on a trolley in the Grantville area on Feb. 26 just before 12 p.m., when he approached a family of four who recently moved to San Diego from Afghanistan. The family was being given a tour from a Catholic charity helping them during their transition to the area.Police say Compton told the 41-year-old father and threatened to kill the family. Compton was identified as a suspect using information obtained from the city's smart streetlights and arrested at 800 Market Street.The data from the smart streetlight also placed Compton as the suspect of another unprovoked felony battery that occurred two days later, though that assault is not believed to be hate motivated."Our department does not tolerate violent acts motivated by hate and will investigate all incidents to ensure the safety of all members of our community," SDPD said in a release.Smart streetlights have been a hotly debated enforcement tool in San Diego, with critics raising privacy concerns and lack of oversight. 1608

"We were investigating drug sales on the street," said Retired Detroit Deputy Police Chief James Younger whose partner was shot in 1972 by a man who was never arrested for the crime. The shooting left Detroit Police Officer Donald Kimbrough paralyzed from the waist down and he died December 7, 2017, from medical complications that resulted from the decades old shooting. "With the knowledge that he was shot and never fully recovered, the manner is homicide," said Dr. Bernardino Pacris from the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Officer who conducted an autopsy on Kimbrough and recovered an oxidized, deformed bullet from Kimbrough's back. Younger said doctors could not remove the bullet without killing Kimbrough because of where it was located. Sergeant Todd Eby of Detroit's Homicide Task Force has been assigned to solving Officer Kimbrough's murder. It happened August 25, 1972, in an alley near a methadone clinic that was located at John R and Belmont.Kimbrough, Younger and another officer, Donald Hughes, were investigating drug activity in the area when they heard gunshots. Kimbrough and Hughes took off running to the area where witnesses said men were shooting while Younger began to navigate their vehicle around traffic to get to the location. Kimbrough and Hughes spotted one man holding a long gun and ordered him to place the weapon on the ground. Moments later, another man who was sitting in the driver's seat of a green Lincoln Continental that was parked nearby, rolled his window down and opened fire on Kimbrough and Hughes. The two officers returned fire, but Kimbrough had been shot. The man who had the long gun picked it back up off the ground and raced to hop into the green Lincoln Continental. Both men escaped.The vehicle they fled in is described as a green 1968 Lincoln Continental with a black vinyl top. It's unclear if the car was a two-door or four-door. A partial license plate may be GA- 2--.The shooter was described as a white man 25 - 30-years-old with shoulder-length black hair, a thick black mustache and long bushy sideburns. Police did recover the shooter's .32 caliber Colt semi-automatic pocket pistol. A man found it in his yard.  "Don was a good policeman. A good person and very energetic person. We spent a lot of time together not only on duty, but also off duty," said Younger who retired as a Detroit Police Chief and now teaches Criminal Justice at Wayne County Community College. If he's alive, Kimbrough's shooter could be in his seventies. But Younger, Eby, and family and friends of Donald Kimbrough believe it's not too late for someone to help solve the case by identifying a suspect. "Where's man's humanity towards man," said Younger. They have a men's line and a kids' line so the whole family can use it -- like I was very excited!"But Erin Ostby's excitement quickly faded when she says her hair began falling out after using the Monat hair products she'd been selling."I was crying to my husband, not just over my hair, but what had I done?"  She's what Monat calls a Market Partner -- someone who sells their shampoo and other hair care products on the company's multi-level marketing platform, which is mostly through social media.  RELATED: Women claim Monat hair products causing balding, scalp soresBut the young mother had to walk away from an increasingly lucrative business when she says she could no longer stand by the products."I was very nervous to say anything because of the backlash I have seen of other people that spoke out about what was happening."In three recently filed class action lawsuits against Monat, the company is accused of using strong-arm legal tactics to silence critics."We have to do that to protect ourselves from defamation," said Monat spokesperson Gene Grabowski, who would only agree to a phone interview. Toni Miller is one of the stylists Monat is suing for defamation."What I am seeing with this product in particular, it's not normal," Miller observed after working with clients who'd used Monat.Monat claims people like Miller are engaged in a smear campaign designed to promote competing products.  In their suit against her, they report 1,000 order cancellations in the last two months."When we tried to reason with our attackers who were bullying people online, bullying some of our market partners, bullying other customers and ridiculing them for using our product, we had to file a lawsuit to protect ourselves from the attacks," Grabowski said.But Miller says Monat is the bully. The company sent a letter to Posare salon, threatening to sue the owner if she didn't silence Toni or fire her.  As for consumers, Grabowski says, "Everyone is entitled to their opinion. By the way, there is not a constitutional right to complain about a company. A company has a right to respond any way it wants to." The Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Review Fairness Act "Protects consumers' ability to share their honest opinions about a business' products, services or conduct in any forum, including social media."  But that's not enough. This request for a restraining order against Monat was filed March 7 in South Florida, asking a court to protect consumers against Monat's "Threats, harassment and intimidation."Monat says one stylist has agreed to pay them to settle its claims against her.  Miller is still fighting.  Monat sent this statement for consumers: "If a consumer feels that he or she is having a negative reaction to MONAT products, we encourage them to speak with their Market Partner to obtain an intake form.
