LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KGTV) -- Federal agents are in the process of seizing hundreds of guns from a home in a wealthy Los Angeles neighborhood, according to KABC. ATF agents could be seen laying out hundreds, possibly even thousands of guns in the Holmby Hills neighborhood near Sunset Boulevard and Beverly Glen. Many of the weapons appeared in a live video to be rifles. No details have so far been provided by ATF. The agency did say that it executed the search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. MARATHON, Fla. -- Several dozen endangered sea turtles were flown from New England to Florida and are receiving treatment for something called “cold stunning.”The young sea turtles became stranded on beaches near Cape Cod, Massachusetts after overexposure to cold water. Being exposed to cold water for too long can result in a hypothermic reaction called “cold stunning,” and can cause turtles to stop eating and swimming.They were flown to the warmer climate of Florida over the Thanksgiving weekend and are being treated at various aquariums, turtle hospitals and facilities. Some of them may have to stay at the facilities for up to a year for testing and treatment.About 40 young Kemp Ridley sea turtles were taken to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon, Florida. Another two dozen were taken to other marine centers, including the Florida Aquarium in Tampa.The rescue was made possible by a group of private pilots called “Turtles Fly Too,” who donated their planes, fuel and time to transport the animals. MCAS MIRAMAR (KGTV) -- Some Grand Princess passengers quarantined at MCAS Miramar say, what the President said in his address Friday about the quality care on base, is not a reality. According to the San Diego County Public Health department, two female Grand Princess passengers in their 70's have tested positive for the Coronavirus. A quarantined passenger at Miramar told 10News that not only has she not been tested, but the base also seems to be understaffed and chaotic. It was supposed to be a lovely two-week vacation around the Hawaiian Islands. "Another day in paradise… in prison," Karen Lira said.By prison, Lira means, MCAS Miramar. She and her husband Jeff have been there since late Thursday, after eight days of self-quarantine on the Grand Princess cruise ship, floating off the coast of San Francisco. "It was quite the waiting game, which just ramped up everybody's stress," Lira said.She said that stress increased tenfold after the Government diverted their vacation to San Diego. "After we left a ship at five pm, we heard it into a bus, which was a crazy situation and then crammed into a plane. And once we got onto the airport, we were told that there was no pilot for the plane," Lira said. Lira said she was baffled to see President Donald Trump on Friday, address the public on how smooth the transition from the cruise ship to Miramar played out. "We had tremendous success in Oakland, where Vice president Pence did a fantastic job," the President said."It was not smooth. It wasn't a beautiful operation," Lira responded. When they finally got to their room on base around 2 a.m. Friday, they were given a welcome note. It explained that food would be delivered to their rooms three times a day. They were advised to always wear a mask, when they stepped out of their rooms. They were also told to keep a six-foot distance from each other at all times."People found out there was food in another building, and people were going a little crazy," Lira said. "Social distancing, wear masks, stay six feet apart from each other. That went out the window immediately when we got off the ship."Lira said she wants the public to know the truth about their situation. So far, they have not been tested. They haven't even got their temperature taken since arriving in Miramar. She is hoping the situation gets better, so she can get back to Oregon, virus-free."If we are not tested any day soon, when is the clock going to start ticking? We are going to be let out of here?" Lira asked. So far, Lira and her husband are feeling healthy. At this point, they want to get tested, so that a negative result can finally get them home to Oregon. LOVELAND RESERVOIR, Calif. (KGTV) - With Santa Ana winds in the forecast for Wednesday morning, Cal Fire stationed more than 500 firefighters in strategic spots to attack any hot spots that flared up in the Valley Fire burn area.The plan worked.Crews were able to recognize hot spot fires quickly and direct resources to fight them before early morning winds spread the flames across Lawson Valley.One flare-up started on a mountain peak just northeast of Loveland Reservoir. That area burned on Saturday, but Barona Fire Department Chief Ken Kremensky said embers stayed hot enough under the tree canopy to reignite Wednesday morning."The retardant coats the area," Kremensky explained. "But a lot of times in the heavier brush it lays along the top of the brush and it doesn't penetrate all the way the ground so there's hot stuff and it creeps in there. And once it creeps through the retardant, it gets into that open field starts to spread. If you get some wind on it and it picks up, you see the flame starting to show up."The fire was in a remote area that would take hand crews hours to reach. So, Cal Fire sent in a squad of helicopters.Helicopters from San Diego Gas & Electric, Cal Fire and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department took turns dousing the flames with water for nearly an hour, making multiple passes and filling up with water from the reservoir.After they left, military helicopters took over. By 11 a.m., the fire was mostly out."We'll just keep plugging away and hopefully the weather will cooperate with us and that'll be a good success," said Kremensky.Heavy winds never materialized, with gusts in the fire zone topping out at 30 miles an hour. Crews were able to handle several other hot spots that ignited and keep the flames within the fire perimeter.Kremensky said they were fortunate that the weather cooperated. 1862
