View this post on Instagram This honestly hurts my heart to have to post this right now, but I’m just requesting prayers and positive energy for my young guy! @RyanBowersOB has to be one of the most talented and gifted youngsters I’ve ever met but more importantly one of the most resilient and strong spirits I’ve personally witnessed. He had such a troubled and haunted journey when I first signed him that I wasn’t aware of because he did it all with a smile. One of the nicest and sincere kids you could ever meet. About 5 years ago I created a alternative rap group for him and @Kehlani along with a few other talented young artist called “PWD”. They were all so dope that I invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in them. They had amazing songs with @E40 @losangelesconfidential @djpremier and more. They toured with @therealtechn9ne and even performed on Wildnout, at SXSW and other festivals. And Bowers was the energy of the group, a writer, rapper, singer, skateboarder.??! The kid could do it all, but like most of us he had his own demons and darkness that he struggled with. We would often talk about God and Spirituality and he got to a place where it all was confusing for him and he couldn’t trust anyone. I told him I would always have his back and would be there for him so when I got the call today that he slit his throat and then immediately after the San Diego police shot him numerous times. My heart sunk. Through the grace of the Most High Ryan Bowers is still here with us, but he needs your prayers and positive energy. (KGTV) - The man who prosecutors believe was the target of a murder for hire came face-to-face Tuesday with those charged: His estranged wife and her gun instructor.Greg Mulvihill described the moments leading up to him being shot, saying he didn't realize he'd been shot right away and at first he thought he felt something in his back even though he could see the sniper in front of him. The North County father described a bitter custody battle in which he was accused of everything from drug use to sexual assault and molestation of their young son.RELATED: Trial begins in Carlsbad murder-for-hire plotMulvihill says he went up a remote trail in Carlsbad on Sept. 1, 2016, out of desperation, fearing his ex-wife, Diana Lovejoy, would reopen their custody battle. He took a friend, a flashlight and a small aluminum baseball bat but he thought he was picking up documents from a private investigator.Instead, as he approached the spot off Rancho Santa Fe Road and Avenida Soledad, he shined his flashlight around and spotted someone dressed in camouflage pointing a long gun right at him.Before he knew what was happening he was hit once in the side, the bullet exiting out his back.In the courtroom Tuesday, his ex-wife and the man accused of firing the gun, her weapons instructor, sat quietly, Lovejoy crying at times and shaking her head at others. Mulvihill was cross-examined Tuesday and the trial will resume Wednesday morning. 1506

VISTA (CNS) - A man who fired a BB gun at an Oceanside business that had put up a sign supporting the Black Lives Matter movement pleaded guilty today to charges of violating civil rights by damaging property and vandalism.Steve Soto, 23, of Carlsbad, is slated to be sentenced Sept. 28 to one year in county jail stemming from the June 4 shooting that shattered a window at Bliss Tea & Treats.Oceanside police Sgt. John McKean said Soto drove by the business, then fired a BB gun out the window of his vehicle.The business had a sign in the window at the time that read: "Black owned, we stand with you," McKean said.The sergeant said surveillance video helped detectives identify the vehicle used in the crime, leading to Soto's arrest on July 15.He also pleaded guilty to an assault charge related to a May 28 incident involving a male victim and a misdemeanor vandalism count related to an unspecified July 4 incident.He was facing a hate crime allegation stemming from the Bliss Tea & Treats shooting and other misdemeanor charges of discharging a BB gun in a grossly negligent manner stemming from unspecified incidents occurring in June and July, but those counts were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. 1232

VISTA, Calif. -- Firefighters are investigating what caused a large building to catch fire in Vista Monday morning.The fire broke out around 11:20 a.m. near Emerald Drive in Vista. When firefighters arrived, the building, believed to be a large shed, was completely engulfed in flames.Authorities say it took 24 firefighters from Vista, Oceanside and Carlsbad less than 30 minutes to extinguish the flames.Due to the smoke, nearby Grapevine Elementary School kept students inside classrooms so they wouldn’t be exposed to the smoke.Firefighters say they have yet to determine what caused the fire but added that no one was injured.Video captured by Ricardo Gutierrez shows intense flames tearing through the building. 725

VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Video of a violent arrest by San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies in Vista has renewed calls for better community engagement by local law enforcement.Rev. Shane Harris said that push was galvanized last July after Jonathon Colonel was shot and killed by a Deputy after a foot pursuit.While the Sheriff’s Department said Colonel was a documented gang member, he was not armed at the time of the shooting. His family said he was shot 17 times. The Sheriff’s Department said he had been reaching under his shirt when the deputy opened fire.After that shooting, Harris said the captain of the Sheriff’s station in Vista, Charles Cinnamo, promised to create a community advisory committee.Harris said the group would be composed of various community members who could offer perspective on issues ranging from racial profiling to police brutality.“Conversation lowers tension, automatically,” said Harris.Capt.
