(KGTV) -- Foot Locker is helping voters get a leg up this election year.The athletic retailer is partnering with the nonprofit Rock the Vote to turn all of its U.S. stores into temporary voter registration sites.Beginning Sept. 22, Foot Locker will have registration kiosks with a website where visitors can check their voter status, register to vote or sign up for election reminders.The company has more than 2,000 stores in the U.S., including seven locations in San Diego County.Foot Locker says the initiative is targeted at the more than 4 million young Americans eligible to vote this year. Juan Vargas was first elected in 2013. He served on the committee of financial services and the committee of foreign affairs from 2019 to 2020.Vargas previously served on the State Senate representing the 40th District, the State Assembly in the 79th District, and the San Diego City Council.Hidalgo is a retired US Marine. He faced Vargas in 2018 with Vargas capturing 71 percent of the vote.The district includes all of Imperial County and the southern part of San Diego County including National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and El Centro. 721

(KGTV) — California officials announced Thursday the state's REAL ID identification is now in line with federal requirements.Last December, the Department of Homeland Security notified state officials that requirements for the new identification and drivers license needed to be stricter.Now, those applying for the card will need to show one proof of identity, original or certified; one proof of Social Security Number; and two proofs of California residency. A complete list of acceptable documents is available online here.Those who have already received a REAL ID license or card will receive a letter in the mail asking them to confirm their address and must mail the form back to the DMV. This will count for their second form of identification.RELATED: San Diego DMV customer has warning about websitePreviously, the state only required one proof of residency and counted the post office's delivery of the ID as the second form, placing it at odds with federal requirements.Beginning on Oct. 1, 2020, the REAL ID drivers license or ID will be needed for airline passengers traveling domestically or accessing federal facilities or military bases. However, airline passengers will still be able to show a passport to travel within the U.S. as well.Residents are encouraged to schedule appointments to apply for a REAL ID and fill out the necessary paperwork (available online) before visiting DMV offices.So far, the state estimates about 4.1 million REAL ID drivers licenses and cards have been issued. 1518

(KGTV) — Disney is delaying plans to reopen Disneyland and California Adventure in July, saying state guidelines will not be issued soon enough to prepare its parks to welcome back guests.Earlier this month, Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure Park were slated to reopen on July 17 after being shuttered since March. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel plan were to reopen on July 23. The company now says guidelines from the state are not expected "until sometime after July 4.""Given the time required for us to bring thousands of cast members back to work and restart our business, we have no choice but to delay the reopening of our theme parks and resort hotels until we receive approval from government officials," a company statement read.Downtown Disney is still scheduled to reopen in Anaheim on July 9 with health and safety precautions in place, according to the company. Disney said Downtown Disney's reopening had been previously approved under California's restaurant and retail guidelines for reopening."Once we have a clearer understanding of when guidelines will be released, we expect to be able to communicate a reopening date," the statement said in regards to the parks.Disney added that is has signed agreements from 20 union affiliates representing cast members to return employees to work at the theme parks.The company's plans to reopen California parks mirror that of its parks that have reopened in Florida and China. Disney said the parks will plan to limit attendance using a reservation system in order to prevent overcrowd and encourage distancing between guests. Park experiences like parades, nighttime shows, and character meet-and-greets would also be temporarily suspended. Characters will still roam around the park, Disney said."Because theme park capacity will be significantly limited to comply with governmental requirements and promote physical distancing, the Disneyland Resort will manage attendance through a new theme park reservation system that will require all guests, including Annual Passholders, to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance," the park said on its official blog. "Once approved, the Disneyland Resort will reopen with enhanced health and safety measures.
