Starbucks will take a time-out to work on re-training it's workers on racial bias, but the family of the man killed outside a Starbucks in Milwaukee Wisconsin was critical of the coffee company's decision.Starbucks will close all 8,000 stores for a day on May 29 after a Starbucks worker in Philadelphia called police accusing two black men of loitering in the store. Their arrest is now a viral video.But the family of Dontre Hamilton, who was shot and killed after a Starbucks employee called the police on him for sleeping on a bench, says it is a familiar over-reaction by someone who works for Starbucks."We feel Starbucks was partly responsible for calling on an individual who wasn't bothering anyone that day in this park," said Nate Hamilton, the brother of Dontre Hamilton.After Dontre Hamilton's death on April 30, 2014, there were protests both inside and outside the Starbucks. The then Starbucks CEO met with the Hamilton family privately, they say to talk about race and Starbucks."They should have started retraining their employees then," said Nate Hamilton.Others in Milwaukee agree Starbucks is not the only company that needs to work on racial profiling."If I go somewhere and I am not the dominant color, to put it the roughest way possible, then someone's looking, double checking," said northwest side resident Patrice Green.Cornelius McClendon and Lindzy Crawford say as Marquette students they had to be careful how they acted and it hasn't changed."Whether I was at a department store, whether I was walking down the street, we kind of set our own rules where we don't wear hoodies, you don't wear sweatpants. You never want to fit the profile because the profile is fairly vague," said McClendon.But Dontre Hamilton's mom is not optimistic retraining is the answer."No one can be trained to not have that particular type of racism embedded in them. (AP) — A Southern California doctor has been convicted of taking part in a million scheme to defraud Medicare.A federal jury on Wednesday found Donald Woo Lee of Temecula guilty of eight charges.Prosecutors say Lee provided medically unnecessary procedures to Medicare beneficiaries and provided phony billing codes to obtain a higher government reimbursement.Authorities say Lee submitted million in bills and received .5 million in reimbursements.Besides health care fraud, Lee was convicted of adulteration of a medical device because prosecutors say he re-packaged single-use catheters for reuse on patients. 647

Starbucks says it has developed a solution to block customers from viewing pornography on its free public Wi-Fi.The coffee giant originally promised to block pron sites in 2016 as soon as it developed a system to block graphic sites. Starbucks has not divulged details on how its content filtering system will work.According to Business Insider, Starbucks' policy change comes after a petition issued by an internet safety group Enough Is Enough garnered 26,000 signatures. The group's CEO, Donna Rice Hughes, claims that by allowing unfiltered Wi-Fi, Starbucks was "keeping the doors wide open for convicted sex offenders and others to fly under the radar from law enforcement and use free, public Wi-Fi services to access illegal child porn and hard-core pornography."Starbucks said in a statement to The Verge that “While it rarely occurs, the use of Starbucks public Wi-Fi to view illegal or egregious content is not, nor has it ever been permitted...We have identified a solution to prevent this content from being viewed within our stores and we will begin introducing it to our US locations in 2019.”According to Enough Is Enough, Starbucks was lagging behind other restaurant chains like McDonald's and Subway, both of which banned pornography on their Wi-Fi networks in 2016.Alex Hider is a writer for the E.W. The Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center have seen a spike in alcohol poisonings and hospitalizations across much of Arizona.The center services all counties except Maricopa, stating it has never seen so many in one month.“We see dozens of these per year, but never 22 in a month with hand sanitizers being the source of these hospitalizations," said Dr. Steve Dudley, director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center.Since June 1, it has received 22 cases related to people drinking hand sanitizer. The center said many don't know the poisonous chemical methanol is inside.Dudley explained if hand sanitizer isn't mixed just right, it can create the toxic compound.“With COVID-19 and everyone is rushing to be prepared and stay stocked on hand sanitizer that's a left shortage. So, that's opened the door for either whole making of hand sanitizer or other companies or manufacturers being able to step in and fill that need,” explained Dr. Dudley.Dudley explained the effects of methanol might not be apparent right away, but could be deadly over time.“Methanol itself is not very toxic, it's what the body breaks methanol down into that causes all the toxicity,” he said.Signs and symptoms of methanol poisoning include:NauseaVomitingBlurry or hazy vision that could lead to permanent blindnessSeizuresDudley explained the reason some drink hand sanitizer.“Unfortunately, you know, it's an alcohol substitute, just like we see people who drink rubbing alcohol and attempts to get drunk.
