SELMA, Ala. (AP) — Bruce Carver Boynton, a civil rights pioneer who inspired the “Freedom Rides," has died at the age of 83.Former Alabama state Sen. Hank Sanders confirmed Boynton's passing Tuesday.Boynton was arrested 60 years ago for entering the white part of a racially segregated bus station in Virginia.That action began a chain reaction of events that ultimately helped to bring about the abolition of Jim Crow laws in the South.Boynton contested his conviction, and his appeal resulted in a Supreme Court decision that prohibited bus station segregation and helped inspire the landmark “Freedom Rides” of 1961. 627

SeaWorld said Monday it rescued a bottlenose dolphin last week that suffered serious injuries after it was attacked by a shark in North Florida.The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission called SeaWorld to help rescue the 265-pound dolphin after it was discovered along Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.Because of the life-threatening injuries, animal experts decided to transport the animal to SeaWorld Orlando for rehabilitation.Officials said the dolphin sustained multiple shark bite wounds to her body and right pectoral flipper.After treatment, the dolphin was able to swim unsupported at the park’s rescue facility.SeaWorld said they are currently providing the dolphin 24-hour care to help it gain strength. 754

It was in the summer, to like go big. And one of them said, 'Diagon Alley'," he said.Chambers was fully committed to making this the best Diagon Alley fans had ever seen, but he had to leave his job to accomplish this project.  He decided to create the real-life Diagon Alley in his driveway. Chambers has been a creative director for more than 20 years and focusing on the details was his forte.At this Diagon Alley, muggles are allowed in. They walk into a magical filled with an assortment of shops and items on Hogwarts'  supply list. There is Olivander’s Wand Shop, Eyelops' Owl Emporium, Madam Malkin’s Robes for all Occasions and Flourish and Blotts where students buy their school books.Once word got out about the Diagon Alley Project, fans from around the world flocked to see this wizarding world in Washington.“They walk in the door and some of them have burst into tears. It’s been incredible," Chambers said.From overzealous screams, hysterical cries and a few marriage proposals, the Diagon Alley Project became a bigger success than Chambers ever imagined.As thousands of muggles roamed through their fantastical getaway, Chambers and his family realized they had an opportunity to make an even bigger difference. They decided to collect donations from visitors to raise money for cancer research. SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s been two days since 29 year old Frank Stricker drove his truck into a crowd of street vendors near the border in Mexico. Court records from Utah show Stricker should have never been behind the wheel in the first place because he has a suspended license. The court records show Stricker has been arrested six times since 2008 in Utah and has 47 criminal charges, all mostly drug related. RELATED: 'We were fleeing for our lives.' Passenger speaks out after Tijuana crashStricker was last arrested on May 6, 2019. Police say he was driving on a suspended license, without a registration and no proof of insurance. Police say he also had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle when they pulled him over. Mexican authorities tell 10News Stricker is facing charges of attempted homicide and property damages. They expect him to be arraigned Thursday in Mexican court. In the crash Monday afternoon, Stricker hit 17 vehicles, 12 vendor carts and injured three people.
