HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Wildlife officials say a goose is recovering after being found with a large arrow through its neck at the same Southern California park where a goose and a gull swallowed prescription pills last month. The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that the goose flew around with the arrow in its neck for a week before it was finally captured at Carr Park in Huntington Beach. The arrow was removed and the bird was given antibiotics, IV fluids and painkillers. It's expected to fully recover.Shortly before Christmas, a Canadian goose and a ring-bill gull had their systems flushed after eating pills — including sedatives — that someone dumped in the park. Both birds have recovered after being treated at a wildlife center.Officials don't know whether the two incidents are related. 816
Hurricane Willa is nearing the Pacific coast of Mexico as a potentially catastrophic Category 5 storm, after experiencing what the National Hurricane Center called "explosive" strengthening over the past 48 hours.Willa's maximum sustained winds, as of Monday morning, were 160 mph, making it a top-of-the-scale hurricane. Its current intensity is slightly more than Hurricane Michael's when it made landfall in Florida's Panhandle less than two weeks ago.The storm has supercharged at an incredible rate since it formed over the weekend. From Sunday morning to Monday morning, Hurricane Willa strengthened 80 mph in only 24 hours, and went from forming into a tropical storm on Saturday morning to a Category 5 in less than 48 hours. The official forecast from the National Hurricane Center calls for Willa to weaken some before landfall, but the storm is still expected to be a major hurricane, likely still a high-end Category 4, when it makes landfall on Tuesday afternoon. 983

The council agreed that this committee should also make sure the sheriff’s department can still ensure public safety. The vote also came with the condition that the city will hire a consultant to advise them and help with the review. The council agreed to come back with their findings and any recommended changes in 90 days. 877
IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - Medical examiners identified the body found floating off-shore in Imperial Beach as 29-year-old Zabiullah Rahmani.Rahmani leaves behind a wife of nearly ten years and two 7-year-old twin daughters. Ramzia Rahmani tells 10News, "I can say it was horrible and it still is." Less than a week since she lost her husband and the feelings are still raw, "The fire is burning in my chest whenever I see my girls ask about their father. It'ss too hard to face their questions, it's hard to answer their questions about their dad."She tells 10News, her husband left Saturday night to hangout with friends down in Imperial Beach. She says he was planning to be home for midnight but the hours after turned into Monday, "The doorbell rang and I saw there was two police officers and I felt bad. Thankfully she has support from family members like Zabi's cousin, "I'll try my best to be like a father to Zabi's kids and treat them the same way I treat my kids."
