There's a new way to do contact tracing in the works and it could make a difference for health care providers during flu season.Vibrent Health just got a contract with major health institutions to develop the platform.Part of the idea is for users to enter their symptoms and find out if they're more likely to have the flu or COVID-19.“Health care facilities do get bombarded with perhaps people thinking that they have COVID when they just had flu, so the idea is how do you help the health care organizations to reduce some of the burden,” said Praduman Jain, founder and CEO of Vibrent Health.The technology is designed to be embedded in other apps that organizations and intuitions already use, like a university application for students.“So, make it easy for people and don't try to change their behavior,” said Jain. “They are already using certain applications that this can become a part of.”The app uses Wi-Fi networks to find out if you may have been close to someone with the virus.It could help cut some contact tracing work for public health departments. Instead of calling everyone that may have come in contact with the virus, the app can report that information.“There are only so many people, so many human beings, so many people that public health departments can hire to do that contact tracing, so technology becomes really important,” said Jain.Development is still in its early stages. TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - Hundreds of kids are waiting at shelters in Mexico, unable to get their asylum application processed, according to lawyers.They came with the migrant caravan in November. "Really quite brave of them to go through all of that," Lawyer Kara Lynum said. Lynum traveled to Tijuana with fellow lawyers from around the country in December.While in the shelter during their five day stay, she says they saw huge gaps in resources for the kids, prompting them to create a GoFundMe page."So the money is going directly to Al Otro Lado, so they're going to use it to fund those needs, they're going to hire a teacher. They're going to hire a trauma counselor for the kids, enhance security in the shelter and then hopefully hire a lawyer too," Lynum said one of the biggest issues is getting kids' applications processed."There's that list for asylum seekers, and the kids can't get on that list," saying change needs to happen, "for the children, in particular, they should be able to walk up to the Port of Entry and start the process of asylum."The roadblock, the law states anyone under 18 must have a guardian, to ensure the child is acting under their own free will."To know the background of this minor, I mean there's arguments that some of these kids are being trafficked. We don't know exactly where are there parents?" Thirty people were injured when the floor of an apartment clubhouse collapsed during a party in Clemson, South Carolina, the city's police department said.A large portion of floor collapsed Sunday morning as attendees danced in unison at the clubhouse of the Woodlands of Clemson apartment complex, Woodlands Property Management President Tal Slann said.People fell through the collapsed floor into the building's basement, Slann said.No individuals were trapped during the collapse and it's unclear if anyone suffered life-threatening injuries, police said. 566
