SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An hours-long SWAT standoff involving a domestic violence suspect in Point Loma came to an end Thursday night. Police were called to the 2200 block of Caminito Pescado around 4:45 p.m. after receiving a call from a neighbor. Police say a woman who lives in the home ran to the neighbor’s house reporting that she and her 71-year-old husband got into a fight. Police and SWAT responded and found the man on the second floor balcony of the condo. After trying to get the 71-year-old down from the balcony, police say he ran inside before a gunshot could be heard coming from the home. Neighbor Jenny Taylor spoke with 10News on FaceTime, saying she could see officers lined up with their weapons drawn from her patio. She said she was ready for the worst, "let me move it so we can at least duck down really quick and hit the floor and run inside the house, so we left the screen door open and moved all the chairs out of the way."It was hours before police and SWAT packed up.Authorities later found the man dead inside. According to police, records show authorities had never been previously called to the home. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. If you're contemplating suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255). There is also a crisis text line. For crisis support in Spanish, call 1-888-628-9454. 1388

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An evacuee who tested positive for the coronavirus in San Diego was mistakenly released back into quarantine because their test sample was mislabeled.Four evacuees were brought from MCAS Miramar to UC San Diego Medical Center and provided samples for testing within the last week. Three of those four samples were not labeled in compliance with the same regulations between UC San Diego Health and the CDC, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention spokesperson.Because of this, when the samples were brought to the CDC in Atlanta, three of them were not immediately processed.RELATED: First case of coronavirus confirmed in San DiegoThe CDC says the team in Atlanta then reported that the samples tested negative, when three of those samples had not actually been tested. As those three patients were heading back to the base to finish out their 14-day quarantine orders, the mistake was discovered. Officials asked the three patients to self-isolate in their rooms while they tested their samples.CDC officials said two samples came back negative and one was positive.RELATED: Miramar coronavirus evacuees start petition for quarantine oversightThe patient, a female, spent the night in her room on the base, before being returned to the hospital for isolation.UCSD Medical Center says she is in good condition and has minimal symptoms.CDC officials are now investigating whether the woman may have come into contact with anyone after they were released for a short time. But based on what they've learned so far, they say it appears unlikely anyone else is at risk.RELATED: Father, daughter at Miramar quarantine find out mother in China is sick with coronavirusWhile the woman was returned to the hospital, another evacuee from Wuhan, China, was also taken to the hospital the same day for further evaluation. The first flight carrying 167 evacuees arrived on Feb. 5, before a second flight carrying 65 evacuees arrived the next day. Those passengers are all serving 14-day quarantines that started the day they left China. 2068

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A virtual job fair for Camp Pendleton Marines, their spouses, veterans, and members of the reserve and guard is set for Thursday.Organizer RecruitMilitary says more than 35 employers will attend, and more than 400 job seekers have already signed up. The jobs run the gamut from full to part-time, telecommuting, and include local and national employers. The City of Carlsbad and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department will be there recruiting. Other employers include Northrop Grumman, ADT, Spectrum and Eli Lilly. "We have employers that have made the transition themselves," said Jennifer Hadac, a Navy veteran organizing the fair for RecruitMilitary. "A lot of them are veterans themselves or military spouses or members of the military community, so they understand the challenges that they face, they speak the lingo, so it kind of bridges the gap for them."The nationwide Veteran unemployment rate is now at a seasonally adjusted 8 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports. It peaked at 11.8 percent in April. But in December 2019, it was as low as 2.8 percent. The virtual job fair is free and begins at 11 a.m. Thursday and runs until 3 p.m. Participants can see a full list of employers and register by clicking here. 1263
